Yes, blood sugar problems can be hereditary. Often, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) can be serious. Do talk to your doctor.
I have been on Topamax for migraines since I was 23 & I my dose had been upped last year, but I never thought it could be due to that where it had just happen here recently.
I guess you never really know, though. Another thing I can discuss that I would have never thought of.
Thank you!
My mother has a problem with low blood sugar.
Could that be something that is hereditary?
& thank you so much, I will check with my doctor for all of the tests you suggested.
This has happened to me when I started a new medication. It was a possible side effect I had not been aware of.
You should go get your thyroid tested to see if you have hyperthyroidism, which causes your thyroid to produce too much thyroid hormones. You need to get TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Also antibody tests for Hashimoto's and Graves Disease.
For Hashimoto's, you need Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGab). For Graves Disease, you need Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI).
Another thing to look into is blood sugar issues. While many adults gain weight with diabetes, some lose...... your almost passing out, could have been caused by too low blood sugar.
