When I mean 'amount' I mean by the large variety of foods that I eat. Sorry should of explained it better.
When you say "amount" of food, do you mean the large variety of food or actual amount in volume? Tracking it all can get pretty cumbersome. You don't really have to track all the carbs, fat and protein, but you should keep a fairly close eye on the calories, at least until you figure out how much of each food is a serving.
Your meals should consist mostly of fresh/frozen vegetables, lean protein, limited amounts of healthy fats, a couple of servings of fruit/day, nuts, seeds, etc. Make sure you're only eating a single serving of everything except vegetables... you can eat as many of those as you like.
Of course it's been proven that the most weight is lost when tracking food intake, so it is to your advantage to make the time/effort to keep track. The online trackers, such as the one here on MedHelp make it all much easier, because all you have to do is enter the name of the food and the amount and everything else is calculated for you.
Keeping your carbs low I think its important we use carb for energy so if you keep your carbs low the body will start using fat for energy burning all the fat as a fuel to our bodies which well result in a fast and easy weight lost.
Hope this helps
