is stress keeping me from loosing weight????

i am trying to loose weight, i am excersizing everynight at minimum of 30 minutes of aerobic dance workout, i have stopped drinking regular soda and started drinking sprite zero or straight water, i have completely cut out all delioucious snack foods, now i snack on fruits and vegies (with out dressings or cremes) i stopped taking the elevator at work i only take the stairs now, i have been taking alli, when i eat meals with more that 15g of fat, and the Dr. that i work for has but me on phendimetrazine 35mg tid. and i have noticed that with taking those my appitite has decreased and when i do eat i get fuller faster. but i just feel, that im not loosing as much weight as maybe i should be. and i am wondering if stress and depression is causing me to not loose weight and everything that i am doing is just preventing me from gaining more weight. am i doing something wrong? everything i eat is now low sugar or zero sugar, weight watchers, or some other kind of low fat meal. if i do go out to eat, i get grilled chicken, with all vegies on it. i dont know what more i can do.

One possibility as to why you are not losing weight could be that you have lowered your calories too much.

This can have a negative effect on your metabolism, it will slow it down. You should be eating above 1,000 at least.

1,500 calories is usually the benchmark for people who diet.

Depression is a factor in weight issues and should not be ignored. I recommend that you get help for your depression first, as a priority, and then deal with your weight after.

Exercise is a good anxiety reliever and it's important that you do that to achieve healthy weight loss.

an answer to your question about why i am stressed, my main reason is work, the Dr, that i work for is an amazingly smart man and a great dr but a **** poor human being, he treats his patients like dollar bills and treats his staff ten times worse. he has his good days and his bad days, i can for the most part tolerate him. but his personal assistant and the manager of the company is where my stress comes from, he talks about all of his workers in a bad way, with me its my weight that he is always making fun of, he makes comments to me that he wont give me a nice chair like everyone else cuz i will break it, or that he almost used my sweater as a garbage bag (the sad thing is the sweater was my bf's) he will come into my office and start opening all my desk drawers looking to see where i have my cell phone, and then demand that i show him where at in my purse my phone is. every day he reminds me that there are 200 applicants that he can easily replace me with if i dont put more patients on the schedule for procedures. i am very good at my job i do my work effectively and efficiently, but when you have a dr that treats people like ****, its kinda hard to convince them of why they need to have a colonoscopy for the 3rd time in a year.  i try really hard not to let my manager get to me, but some days it just not easy, everyone there hates him and working there but times are tuff. i really have to bite my tongue not to tell him off when he starts talking about me to my co-workers in a negative way, but if i tell him off there goes my job and then no money for bills and rent. so this is were most of my stress come from. i was looking into adrenal fatigue syndrome and problems with cortisol hormones so if anyone knows anything about these issues relating to stress i would like to hear your thoughts.

thanks for reading.

Stress can be a factor in weight loss.  As we experience periods of increased stress, it can be difficult to maintain healthy eating habits.  We may find ourselves reaching for food to fill an emotional need or we may be unable to find the time to prepare something healthy.  Our weight loss efforts are challenged by these events and, some researchers feel, may also be effected by hormonal changes that take place during times of increased stress.

Thought your question was one that definitely needs answered more fully and I am preparing some additional information to share with you and the community.  I'll be making a post "Stress - A Factor in Weight Management?" in the next day or two.  It will more clearly explain the answer to your question.

I'll come back here and link the post as well ..

Many thanks for your participation .. and your question.  Very best wishes ..

Why are you stressed anyeways? Is it not losing weight enoguh? Sometimes you have to be pateint and eventually the weight will come down. May be you hit a plateau. It's time to change exercise routine and the calorie intake.
