Why are the weekends so hard?

So my weekends are so hard to follow my diet. I have no problem following it all week during work but as soon as the weekend hit it was so hard to follow. Now I did follow it but it was just so hard. I have lost like 2 inches in less than a week and about 3 pounds after the first loss and gain. So I am off to a good start. I want to eat the carbs even when I am full from the veggies and chicken. I have no problem with the soda I don't feel like I want it at all.

I find the weekends tough too because both my hubby and I are off and he doesn't like to eat on any schedule either, plus he likes to eat a lot of fried, fatty foods that I don't eat, so it makes cooking difficult.  During the week when we are both at work, we eat a large lunch, then just sandwiches or something light for supper and we each usually make our own.

I've learned that when we go out to eat breakfast, I can choose things like eggs, oatmeal, english muffin, whole wheat toast, etc that are pretty much "good for me" and he's welcome to his pancakes, hash browns, etc.

Like twehner5, if I eat a late breakfast - I will only eat one other meal for that day, but I do snack on apples, pears, raw veggies, popcorn, etc.  I also try to keep my mind and hands busy (I used to smoke so I also have to resist that urge to put something in my mouth).

We're all ridin' in that same boat with you and because our individual circimstances are all different, we have to get really creative.

Hey Lori!

Good Job losing those unwanted inches and the extra  pounds! Wow! Dont you make this weight loss feel Like Easy As ABC!

having said that  I kno weekends are a tough call. It may not only be due to the fact of not having less schedule...it also may have to do with stress . All week we work hard and may not take time to relazx...we look forward for the weekend and when friday hits we say TGIF and unwind.....

I think taking time to relax during the weekdays is important as keeping yourself occupied during the weekends. It is important that you keep yourself engaged in something you love and have a routine you adore...

How about giving life to an old hobby that you think havent time to do, or  start a new one? Or do some activity that you may really enjoy? If you still crave during thw weeknds as a last line of defence, come and ask for advice on the borad here..I think we will be around and be more than happy to give ideas!

Can you take a friend with you to McD's so it can be a play time for your child and a "play time for YOU?  Then it will be something YOU can look forward to and not miss the carbs quite so much.  Or, maybe have a phone date with someone...or take a book to read or a magazine.  I'm just trying to brainstorm.  I LOVE MY CARBS, TOO!  I want to help you!

I have a 5 year old so I have breakfast early. He does not know what sleeping in is. But we have to leave the house as to not wake up dad. So we always go to McDonalds for him to play on Saturday. Now there I will give up the Breads. I eat ham and eggs and a slice of cheese. But I really want the bread I can't have and it is in my house since my husband and son eat it.

See?  We're all "scheduleless" on the weekend and it messes us up.

Let's just not have weekends!  NO!  We can do this!  Weekends or not.

What are we going to do differently this coming weekend???  How are we going to win?  If it helps you any and if you don't mind my 2 cents, If I eat breakfast that late then I only eat one more mean that day...  That helps me get back on track.

Good luck!

Oh, Lori!  You are doing so good!  Weekends are just plain hard.  I think one reason is because there's less of a schedule - at least for me, that seems to be true.

BUT, the more success you enjoy, it DOES get easier.  Does that make you feel better?  I sure hope so.

Keep staying in touch, that makes all the difference in the world.  You're going to get there!

Hey Lori, just wanted to let you know I'm the same way. The weekends are very hard for me too. Sometimes when I'm out with my boyfriend, we wont eat breakfast until like 11am and then lunch is always late and then dinner becomes like around 10pm. And that is no good to eat heavy that late. I can follow everything during the week, but weekends are the worst.
