my old OB/GYN from years ago would Rx these, and i went and got a script for phentermine. but there was no nutritional guidance/counseling or anything like that. just 1 month supply then a follow up visit for when you ran out. and yes it can raise your blood pressure. in my opinion, these pills might have worked better if there was more support instead of just getting weighed, have my vitals taken and then i'm out the door with a Rx in my hand. i didn't lose any weight that month b/c even though i ate less i still ate all the same things that aren't good for you. soda, candy, sweets, fast food, etc. I went to a weight loss clinic and spoke w/nutritionist there and now i eat healthier and changed my life style and i'm actually losing weight for the first time in years. so, some dr will do it, while others won't. if you really want them, just call around and find a dr that will prescribe them for you. if you can find a weight loss clinic 9 times out of 10 they will prescribe them. good luck on your weight loss journey
Neither does silence mean that we think taking these meds is okay. I do not believe it is okay to take this type of weight loss drug.
Much better to make lifestyle changes, via healthy diet and moderate exercise, that you can stick with.
Keep in mind, the silence of others in no way means we oppose what your asking.
I agree with your current Dr. These medications are not good for you. Weight loss is about lifestyle changes, eating right, and exercise. Even walking every day. Calories in versus calories burned. There is no special pill for that. Best wishes to your health.
