I am a compulsive overeater and addicted to sugar. I don't buy any food with sugar unless it is the 5th ingredient or less. I learned that through Overeaters Anonymous. I used food as a drug to deal with life. I don't know if this helps but it does for me.
L-glutamine it's great for sugar cravings as well as muscle fatigue :)
Tips to control sugar cravings
•don't deprive yourself 100%, take something healthy like fruit or granola and drizzle just a little bit of chocolate on it(instead of eating a whole chocolate bar) or that hazelnut spread is really tasty too.
•don't go too long in between meals, when you get hungry your body wants an instant fix...carbs/sugar. So that's what you will crave because if releases endorphins and gives you an energy boost. Space out your carbs so your body can use them as energy throughout the day and it doesn't crave th sugar as much
•make or bake your own snacks using sugar substitutes and replace your sugary snacks with those. Sometimes it's about tricking your brain into thinking it's getting what it wants.
•last, if you get a bad craving for sweets, try and do 25 minutes if cardio real quick. When your body goes into fat burning mode it will be focused on that instead it craving something else.
*something to remember: shortly after a work out it is natural for your body to have some bad good cravings because it's trying to find the nutrients to replenish itself, but if you heed to that then your body uses what you eat instead of using up it's resources(the fat), and burning it off
When you crave sugar your body needs protein so try a high protein snack.
