Anyone else use Seasonique (Birth Control)?

I just started using Seasonique (used to be called Seasonal) Dec 19,2006 and I'm hoping there will be some ladies on here that can provide me with some feed back. I was hoping I would be able to read the insert that was supposed to come with the filled prescription, but the pharmacy didn't include it in the bag. Anywho, can anyone tell me if they had swollen, sore breast and sore nipples when they first started taking this type of bc? My stomach is also a little tender to the touch. I'm just wanting to see if anyone else experienced these side effects when first starting this type of bc. I used to use the Nuva Ring prior to the switch. Also, for those of you who have been using this type of bc for awhile, how do you like it? I'm still trying to get used to taking a pill daily, I've only had to double up twice so far. Thanks in advance for your feed back.

I completely agree with you, my time on Seasonique and the months following were a nightmare.  Its been 8 months since I last took them and I was only on them for 2 months and I can honestly say I now feel normal and healthy again.  The anxiety has all but gone and after months of bleeding both on and off the pills has now normalized.  I went on another hormone for a few monts but I have since stopped using them as well.  My hormones seem to be happiest when I take good care of myself.  Seasonique also made me blow up like a balloon gaining 10 pounds, i have lotst all 10 plus 6 more so being svelte is  nice too!!! and it also makes your sex drive zoom too! I still think some of the old methods work the best, like diaphrams and such and leave the hormones out of it all together.  Have you seen the ads now for pills that are being pawned off for the wonderful benefit of never having a period because its "medically not necessary" excuse me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you buy into that one, good luck!!!!!!!!
Do you find yourself trowing things at the TV set when you see an ad for seasonique? if so I think thats a forever side effect :) I am still considering reporting my advese effects to the FDA, still not sure...

I wish I had found this forum 6 months ago. My Doctor had me on Lo Seasonique then switched me to Seasonique and I have been bleeding pretty much the entire time. There was one point in time where my period was normal (just one month) then it went haywire again. My situtation is unique because I also have thyroid disease which controls your hormone levels. However, that was under control so it was the seasonique that caused me the trouble. Three weeks ago I started bleeding heavily and experiencing large blood clots and cramps so severe that it felt almost like slight labor pains. I called my Doctor and she finally told me to stop taking the seasonique. Its been 3 days now and the cramps have stopped. Seasonique for me has been a nightmare and I would not recommend anyone to take these pills. When your body is used to having a monthly period and all of a sudden something is interfering with that, it can only mean trouble in my opinion. I was hesistant at first but was assured by my Doctor that it was okay, but as I see here and in other forums about 95% of the women taking these pills experience all sorts of problems and about 5% say its the best thing to happen to them, I don't know about anyone else but those are not good odds in my opinion. The pharmaceutical companies putting this crap on the market and in many instances the doctors pushing them are not being wholely genuine. In test studies, these pills only helped a small percentage of the women however that is enough for the FDA to allow them to enter the market place. My doctors put me on the pill due to heavy bleeding and she wanted my iron levels to normalize. Also, I have a serious boyfriend and didn't mind taking the pill and not worrying about condoms and pregnancy, but half the time I couldn't have sex anyway because I was bleeding. My doctor is putting me on another pill that I start in 3 weeks but I will do my research this time and if I find similar stories as the ones out here I will have to consult with her about alternatives. This is ridiculous, I think that women have become guinea pigs for these pharmaceutical companies and its wrecking our bodies.

im rachael, im 14. Ive been on Seasonique for a year.. i told my mom at 13 that i was tired of spending $40 a month on pads and tampons. Few days later we both went to her doctor; who is also mine. she gave me a sample of Seasonique, for 3 month. i felt so releaved! before bc i had to leave school early everyday cause of accidents.
now i dont have to worry.i have been taking it ever since and ive never spotted during on Seasonique. now ive had 4 packs, i havent had another pack since august and bleed ever since. hopefully soon i'll get another pack! i feel tired and sleepy all the time. i have gained more weight without Seasonique. ever since i stopped my face has broke out and i've had a temper that i never thought i had. i have enjoyed my time with Seasonique! and i hope it works out for all the ladies out there!

I have been on Seasonique for a little over two months now.  My clothes are a little tighter, but it is my breasts that are giving me the most trouble.  I am 40 years old (have had two children), and have never experienced this.  I am only a 34B, but my breasts feel so swollen and heavy.  NONE of my bras are comfortable, and I've spent so much money on new larger-sized bras that are also uncomfortable.  I became so frusterated with this, that I stopped mid-pack.  Two days ago.  I just wanted to have fewer periods.  Was it worth it?  NOOOO.  I'm hoping my breasts will feel 'normal' again after the estrogen leaves my body.  I don't know.  Anyone else had this problem?

Just to say seasonique was the best birth control i have ever taken i didn't get any side effects what so ever. I was on tricyclenlo and hated it i was horrible so for all you women out there having doubts don't try it for your self and you shall see how ur body adjust everyones body is different and reacts to medicine differently.
