Late last week they did 2 swabs , one for yeast, another for bacteria.. everything cane back normal, no bacteria atall. They sent the samples to the lab and grew culture over the weekend and nothing. This is great news but still frustrating, they diagnosed her with recurrent nonspecific vaginits and are maicing me instructions on things to eliminate and do to "cure" it. Our next step afterwords is some topical cream if all else fails. However I will say her doctor said last week to eliminate all dairy for 2 weeks (at the time this all started after she drank milk or ate cheese and yogurt her tummy killed and she became gassy and had gurgling stomach) so 5 days ago we eliminated all dairy from her diet, and low and behold .. not a single spec of discharge while wiping OR in her underwear.. not sure if there's a connection there but her belly aches and gas have also gone away .. so we will most likely continue with her dairy free and look into allergy testing for this !
She's been having dairy intolerance symptoms so I stoped the yogurt but I've had her on a probiotic for 3 weeks now. She had her appointment this morning , they stabbed for bacteria and yeast, we should hear back by Monday at the latest.
Definitely give her some yogurt or probiotics to help rebalance her system after all this antibiotics! Should help some.
Sounds a lot lol a yeast infection, if it doesn't clear up I would see if they can do some sort of test to make sure nothing is underlying.
I know she is only 8 but wouldn't some discharge be normal? Is she complaining of discomfort, itch, etc.? If not, give this a bit of time. Maybe add some probiotics into the mix in yogurt or the new drinks they have that are a bit like a smoothie. What they will probably do if she continues to have UTI's is check her ureters and kidneys. My niece had frequent UTI's and she turned out to actually have a third kidney. More common than you think and the third kidney led to frequent UTI's. she had it removed at about 8 years old. Anyway, I know it is worrisome as a mother but you've covered all your bases with teaching her proper hygienic wiping, treating infections, seeing the doctor. Give it a bit to see if it resolves and if not, look deeper for the cause. good luck an let us know how it goes!
