Masturbation is very normal though it depends on conditions like frequency, personal hygiene, psychological issues,or methods practiced during masturbation.

During the process of masturbation, the skin/internal membranes-clitoris,labia majora/minora,vaginal orifices, urethra, groins, medial aspects of thigh, anal regions comes into contact with utilized object or hand. This causes  excessive friction,if not lubricated well, which is an expected outcome which is presented as rash or boils, redness, soreness, pain, which occurs because of surrounding flora reacting with internal environment.

It may or may not be infection unless affected area is presented up with symptoms like pain, pus, edematic fluid, fever and spreading of lesions. In your case as the bump goes away for now, there are little chances of accusing you for possible reactions.Make use of water based lubricants to practice safe masturbation.

Towards safe practice of sexual habits,I would like to give you additional information about masturbation.
The side effects of such changes to the body include:

Fatigue. Feeling tired all the time
Lower back pain
Thinning hair / Hair Loss
Soft / Weak Erection
Premature Ejaculation
Eye floaters or fuzzy vision
Groin / Testicular Pain
Pain or cramp in the pelvic cavity or/and tail bone

To an extent it is treated as harmless and even good for health but when the frequency of masturbation goes beyond the tolerance limit of body organs then its effects are dangerous if left untreated.

The biggest effect of over masturbation is mental rather than physical, person in habit of it gradually shifts away from normal intercourse and finds masturbation more satisfying and pleasurable. People in habit of it always seek few moments of loneliness to masturbate, even slightest arousal can make them aroused and they may feel the urge to discharge. This situation can promote problems like low libido, ED and lack of orgasm. Other then these problems people in the habit of over masturbation may face the problems like prostatitis, weak parasympathetic nerve, distressed liver, semen leakage, premature ejaculation, sexual exhaustion, impotence and low sperm count.

Females associated with the habit of over masturbation may need a cure for vaginal discharge, vaginal dryness and infections on regular basis due to over masturbation and may also face problems like sexual exhaustion, distressed liver and low libido. Some females also grow a tendency of not reaching orgasm as excessive practice of unnatural sex makes normal sex boring and too much straining to them. Herbal supplements designed for alleviating ill effects of over masturbation contain rich herbs and natural substances which can cast all round healing effects to cure the problem. Though there are many products available in the market claiming to be safe and effective but not all are correct, only products with herbal ingredients and having right herbs which are capable and trusted to cure the problem shall be used.

Excessive masturbation can lead to symptoms like stress, fatigue, and memory loss. In extreme cases, sufferers fall into the pitfalls of impotence and hair loss.

The first step to getting better is to reduce masturbation and ejaculation frequency and try to overcome this bad habit. Eat more soybean products and eliminating excessive caffeine from your diet. Focus on nutty foods like sunflower seeds, and peanuts and eat more sea foods, seaweed, vegetables, and try to minimize red meat and dairy product intake. Instead of soda, try drinking orange juice or cranberry juice and, of course, drink plenty of water.
