Is it a cyst?

I spent the entire day and night yesterday in the E.R. to no avail. The day prior I had seen my gyno for my annual exam. Yesterday, I stood from the couch and experienced a severly sharp pain over my right ovarian area so bad that I was doubled over everytime I had to stand. Pain stayed in that area and leveled to a 7 on the pain scale with spikes to 10. After this burst of initial pain I began bleeding vaginally. I am not due for a period for another two weeks though. This bleeding is extremely heavy. I have only bled this heavily during a miscarriage. As graphic as this sounds, everytime I use the restroom the toilet looks to be filled entirely with blood. They did an ultrasound at the hospital and said they saw no cysts or evidence of a ruptured cyst. The determined that my tubes were not twisted and ruled out a tubular pregnancy. They also said that they could not determine the origin of the bleeding. I have bled so much that they were barely able to draw blood from me for tests and I am still in the same pain and bleeding just as heavily today. They prompted me to follow up with my gyno but it is a holiday and everyone is closed. I am very frightened right now as I have never been through anything like this and keep feeling weaker and weaker. What could be a possibility? Am I in danger of further health risks? I know I am bleeding a lot and keep getting weak but is that something to be concerned with while waiting for the holiday to be over? Please, if you have any ideas or suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. I don't even know what I should watch for to know I should go back to the er... please help

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Main causes of bleeding between periods could be due to miscarriage, birth control pills, infection in an area of the body related to menstruation (including the vagina, the cervix and even the bladder). Other causes could be polycystic ovarian syndrome, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone and uterine abnormalities like fibroid, polyps and  cervical dysplasia.

You should get it examined from a gynecologist to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thanks,
I do have an appointment to see my Gyno. The earliest that I could get in is the 11th and for the last few days I was pretty scared because the bleeding was just so heavy and I couldn't stand without almost blacking out. The bleeding stopped abruptly last night however and I've been getting my energy and strength back slowly and my blood pressure is returning to normal rather than being low. I wasn't sure what to do about any of it to be honest and I knew the appointment was a ways off but I am feeling better about the situation now. Still want to know what is going on of course as they did do pregnancy tests and all there at the hospital but I don't have this unnerving feeling that I'm going to bleed out or anything. The pain has even lessened a good deal! Hopefully the gyno can figure out exactly what was going on. Thanks again
