Is my low calorie diet the cause of my very late period?

Hi I' sixteen and I'm on a 900 calorie diet as per recommended by a dietician and I've lost 12 kilograms already. After a few months of restrictions I haven't achieved my goal weight yet, but my period is very late. Do I have to stop the diet? Will my period just naturally return on it's own?

Women athletes stop getting their periods when their body fat drops below a certain amount.  It's nature's way of not letting someone who is starving have the extra challenge to her body of being pregnant.

I agree.  Lots of things can make us late and weight gain or loss are on the list.  Changes in routine are as well.  So, congrats on the diet and your period should regulate again soon.  good luck and keep up the good work

Yes, it is most likely your diet and weight loss that has caused your late period. While having a delayed period isn't dangerous, and it will absolutely return - probably once you're no longer actively losing weight - I would nonetheless suggest talking to your health care provider about this. They can advice you how to go forward in a manner which is safe and healthy for your body.
