Hello puglover1983,
I just read your post. It's hard to offer an opinion when I don't know what
PID stands for. What does PID stand for ?
PID stands for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.
You would know if you had PID trust me the pain is excruciating
Okay. I had something to also add, I had an aspiration abortion in Aug of 2012. I regret it everyday! My doctor in early 2011 said I showed symptoms of PID, but never suggested anymore appts or treatment, but If I would of had it I probably wouldn't have got pregnant in 2012...right? I went to a new doc last June and she did the ultrasound, pelvic exam, and the culture test because I had irregular periods and tenderness in my lower abdomen, and I mainly just wanted to get checked out (no stds, just found a couple normal cysts that she said would go away once I started the bc pill)...she would have been able to see signs if I did have PID right? And If you did have PID, do you always have it or does it come back and go away? Sorry I have so many questions just really nervous I will become infertile.
Oops I meant I had the abortion in Aug of 2011, and the doc said I showed signs of PID in jan or feb of 2011..But I did get pregnant after she said I showed signs...although she never did another apt or suggest treatment. So Im so confused!!!
Wow, Thank you for your advice. I hope your health has gotten better. Well Ive never had an STD that i was aware of, I have had annual tests ever since I was sexually active {age 16, I am now 20}, so I would think they would have caught the std if i had one between any those periods of tests, wouldn't they?
Oh ya trust me that was my first and only STD and I was 33yrs old was single for years couldnt have gotten it from anyone else and from Jan to Feb I had sex with this person 3 times max and the third time I started bleeding during sex but no pain than I went to get a pap because that was not the norm for me. Within a week by the time my pap/STD results came back I had full blow PID along with it. The pain like I said was intense. My tubes I think are fine because during my surgery they were supposed to remove them due to damage but she didnt. I don't see her until April 15th to find out why they werent removed but I will update you.
If you have not had an STD like Chlamydia or Gonorrhea chances are slim that you had PID. However that doesn't rule out having an abortion, I am not sure if that can cause it or not. I can look into that for you and get back to you unless someone gets back to you sooner.
I am going to my doctor April 9th so I really hope everything is okay, I never have bad pain, but between mid 2010-early 2011, I was starting to have multiple sex partners (most unprotected, unfortunately), I never had pain but I did have quite a bit of UTI's, I never had any tenderness like I do now but I never get uti's anymore, so Im too sure if that is linked. I just hope the tenderness isnt pid or anything that can affect my fertility. After I got the abortion (Aug 2011), my periods were irregular for like 11 months, gained like 35 pounds had some bad pain wen i was on my period, I had depression really bad and still kind of do :( I really should have went sooner to the doc but I moved and lost insurance. I got back on the pill in july 2012 and it regulated it asap. Ive never had problems with irregular periods in the past, I was on the depo for 2 -3 years then the pill, so I think it was the abortion and I did get antibiotics (provided by the abortion clinic) after and took them all so if I did develop pid or another infection I hope I didnt wait to long bc I almost waited a whole year after it, But wen i went to the doc in July 2012 i told her that I had an abortion and She did the pelvic exam, culture test, and I had a pelvic ultrasound. All tests were negative all she found was 2 normal cysts that would go away on their own, I just have alot of tenderness still, No other symptons of PID though. But I had more symptoms during 2010.......
Usually they can tell if you have PID as it usually attacks your tubes, causes them to thicken and have fluid around them. My ultrasound showed that plus a enlarged lymphnode.
After my most recent Endometriosis surgery I asked her if it was PID she found and she said she didn't know. I thought that PID was more dense when it comes to adhesions but maybe my doctor didnt have experience with or couldnt tell the difference between the Endo adhesions and PID.
When I had PID it came on as quick as the STD and I mean crippling pain. I have never felt pain like that too many times in my life and I had stage IV Endometriosis so I suffered with pelvic pain since I was 15. I was white as a ghost, I had a fever and I just couldnt think straight because of the pain. I was so out of it I threw up the medication in the parking lot and picked it up and took it again. I am telling I hope to never feel that pain again.
Once you have PID which in most cases is caused by an STD it can come back if you get an infection like BV or if you use an IUD and get an infection or if you get another STD. It can make you infertile but not always and you can have a child with one tube.
