Medical practitioner advice please on folliculitis

I've been diagnosed with vaginal foliculitis but I'm worrying because is it similair to herpes in appearance???I had a blister on my clitoris and so sore to urinate. Also red sores on the inside lip of my vagina and outside with severe discharge coming from everywhere. There is also pain and swelling around my vagina Such pain with Infection basically. My doctor said he's convinced it's foliculitis from waxing as I have all hair removed and put me on flagyl. There is a slight improvement but it's still sore.  I also had a septic throat and what looks like a cold sore on my lip and chin. My boyfriend gave me oral sex so I was wondering if that was how the folliculitis spread??? I'm very run down but have NEVER experienced this before down below. I also thought it was just fr rough oral sex with him bcos he has facial hair n it got heavy so I got creams and rubbed them around my clitoris. The doc said I cud have spread the infection myself. But the pain was awful, Never experiences it before!! Not have I ever had a cold sore on my mouth but my doc says that's part of the infection from my throat. What should I do. Is it definately foliculitis? I was put on Klacid on the Monday and I went back myself on the wednesday morning to the doctor, panicking if Im honest because I felt there was no improvement. He then put me on Flagyl alongside the Klacid and said if it doesnt clear we will then do a Herpes check but my doctors words were " I do NOT believe or think this is Genital Herpes". It all cleared. I would really appreciate a response from a medical doctor/practitioner.

Thank you so much for your reply. It has completely cleared up and I had no itchyness at all. My doctor had said it is not herpes I am an excessive worrier. I had only slept with 3 people in my life. Although I am not nieve to think that someone was not a carrier we had all been tested prior to sex and were clear. The 3rd person I had sex with there was no oral sex at all and he had been tested before we had intercourse. Could it have been folliculitis that I was diagnosed with? I really appreciate your help

Hello,
It can be due to herpes. Herpes also presents with red itchy blisters which scab over. Herpes simplex is most easily transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected individual. Transmission may also occur through skin-to-skin contact during periods of asymptomatic shedding.

The only way of ruling it out is by getting yourself tested for genital herpes. Laboratory tests include: culture of the virus, direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) studies to detect virus, skin biopsy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for presence of viral DNA. I sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist and get it ruled out.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
