Period lasting two weeks

I got my period early, and now it has lasted two weeks.  This has never happened before.  What are the possible causes?

My advice would be to seek professional help immediately-whether you see your midwife, OBGYN or regular PDOC. Even if you just call in, a lot of OBGYN offices have trained office staff so they can answer weird questions :] Good luck!

I am on the pill and sexually active. Sometimes I forget to take the pill, but we use other protection always.
My period started out pretty normal. It got lighter as if it would end,  but has become heavier again.
