Vaginal Discharge Help?

I'm 19 and a virgin, and ever since i was like 12 i've always had heavy vaginal discharge, it's so annoying! It can be clear, then quite thick and white-ish (even a yellowy colour) and sometimes it can smell a tad and it has a few times made me a little bit itchy down there.
I always have to wear pantyliner's because of it, it's always the most heaviest around for about 2 weeks before my period, i can never really work it out with my menstrual cycle. I also struggled with a heavy long period which eventually gave me iron defiency anemia, so now i have to take the contraceptive pill to control them.
Is this normal? It's embarassing, and i feel that mine isn't normal from what i've read.
And i hate not being able to wear skimpier underwear at times.
I know everyone's different, but it's really horrible to have.
Thanks. x

Thanks for the replies.
Yeah i've looked up yeast and bacteria infection's but since it's been like this since it started it more than likely is normal. I suppose it's different depending where you are in your cycle.
But is it normal for it to be clear and thick at different times?
I probs will ask my Doctor when i next go and see her.

i had the same problem when i was around 16 years old...ever since my period first started i had heavy discharge and sometimes it would smell...i went to the gynecologist and found out that i had a bacterial infection, i forget what exactly what bacteria but it can be caused by many things like certain kind of soaps like shower gels, and also not going pee or getting a shower after sex. i would go to the gynecologist just to be sure.

If you have had since you were 12 and you are now 19 then it is probably your normal discharge. some women have more then others. So if it is nothing out of the ordinary then it isn't a problem. There really isn't anything you can do to reduce your normal discharge. Discharge is healthy, it helps to reduce your chance of getting an infection
