Please do and let me know how it goes. Good luck and you are right it is NOT normal so if you do not get a response from the first gyno get a second or third opinion. Trust me I went undiagnosed for 17yrs and I suffered so badly and no amount of pain meds helped. I was told it was normal and I knew it wasnt but I just believed what they had said and that I was just weak.

What I would suggest is seeing a gynocologist who specializes in Endometriosis. You can look at my profile and journals to see if any of my symptoms that I had before I was diagnosed are the same as what you are going through.

Or you can google Endometriosis and see if you have a lot of the symptoms.

Let me know because if you are taking meds and they are not working then there is a problem. Painful cramps "ARE NOT NORMAL" no matter what you have been told.

I've been menopausal for 2 years now. I used to have very heavy menstral periods and terrible pain so you have my sympathies, shawly 106. You say you take painkillers every month. Do you mind if I ask you what kind? If the painkiller you're referring to is over the counter medication like Midol, for me it was next to useless. Didn't even touch the pain. At the time, my doctor prescribed Anaprox which is an antiinflamatory and a muscle relaxant.. Whatever you do, don't self diagnose. A few minutes ago, I watched the video called Excessive Menstral Bleeding Causes narrated by Dr. Isabel Blumberg who is a ob gyn. The video was very interesting. It might be helpful for you to look at it. If the pain was so intense you couldn't stand and no amount of painkillers helped, I would advise that you make an appointment with your family doctor. Menstral pain is dreadful. I remember how painful some of my periods were. Good luck, shawly 106.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This condition is called dysmenorrhea. It can be of two types; primary and secondary. The primary dysmenorrhea is seen within 2 years of onset of menstruation and stays for 1 to 2 days of each cycle. The secondary dysmenorrhea is due to pelvic inflammatory disease, fibroids, endometriosis (abnormality of lining of uterus), pelvic tumors, and intra uterine device (like copper-T) etc. You should consult gynecologist for internal examination and other test needed to detect it's cause.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Usually having to do that could possibly mean that you have Endometriosis. Please look up those symptoms and see if it matches the symptoms you have. You could try taking the birth control pill continuously to see if it stops the pain,
