if you have been on tamoxifen, it increases your risk of problems of the lining of the uterus.  It would be appropriate to have either a D&C or an endometrial biopsy either way. Postmenopausal bleeding can happen for no reason at all (as if your body wants to give it one last shot to have a period), because the lining of the uterus is dry and it bleeds, or because there is a problem brewing in the uterus.  I would wait to see what the results of the biopsy are and go from there. If you are told that there is insufficient cells to read the biopsy, then you should have a D&C for a complete evaluation.  You should probably also have a pelvic ultrasound to look at the thickness of the lining of the uterus.  (I'm a physician assistant in gynecology for 9 years)
