Vaginal Discharge

I am a 31 year old female. I am fit and eat very healthily. I have had a smear test in October which came back as normal but ever since the smear test I have not had ANY vaginal discharge. There is not any odour, periods are normal. Why have I no discharge?
I have been quite stressed over the last year but my understanding of discharge is that it is the vagina cleaning itself so I don't think this is the reason. Can you help?

Thank you sooooo much for this answer.
I think it must have all been down to stress. I was stressed with exam pressure and work which must have caused the dryness but then I got stressed about the dryness and it was a never ending circle.
As I explained I hadnt had any discharge since October. I was also working full time and coming to the end of a Masters Degree. I have just got my final exam results back and passed, and handed in a 10000 word dissertation. so all stress is now ended.
I must have significantly reduced my stress now as I am now back to normal discharge and have had for a week now. Its amazing how outside factors can affect the body.
I can't thank you enough for posing a reply, I was going out of my mind and had booked an appoinment to see a private OBGYN which would have cost a lot of money!
I did see my doctor who did an internal examination and she diagnosed an Entropian .Apparently alot of women have an entropian but don't even know. I may well have an entropian but that would have gone un noticed had I not got dryness due to stress. Apparently entropians go by themselves and appear due to hormones.

To be honest I think your diagnoses of stress was the true reason for my dryness. Massive Thankyou!

Hello,
Vaginal dryness can be due to low estrogen levels, stopping birth control medications, having a baby, or as a side effect of certain medications. Also, high levels of stress can cause vaginal dryness. Cigarette smoking can also cause vaginal dryness. Rarely medical conditions like sjogrens syndrome can cause these symptoms.

Control the stress levels and if the symptoms persist then get Sjogren’s syndrome ruled out.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
