6 days late, neg hpt

35 day cycle, close to clockwork
bc method = male condoms. pretty responsible, but not perfect use
about a week after i finished bleeding last period, brown mucus for 4-ish days
period due may 29, no sign but bloaty belly
may 30 am, cramps, bloating, the usual. took 2 ibuprofen, anticipating cramps all day. they cleared up in a few hours. no bleeding.
since then, some tiredness, occasional mild cramping, differences in appetite. still no bleeding.
took hpt this morning (6 days after expected period). was negative.

i've never had a period delayed or skipped due to stress or anything, but i s'pose anything is possible. i've had a very stressful year; the past few weeks have been total physical relaxation with just the stress of the job search.

figure i'll wait a week and hpt again. what do y'all think?

thanks, ladies.

update:

yesterday after posting this, i had on-and-off aches about an inch or two left of center, lower abdomen. evening, pink-tinged mucus. night, mild cramping.
this morning, mild cramping.
this afternoon, period started (!! phew!) and gigantic cramping.

this is the second strangest period i've had since i was a teenager. and i am a worry wart. guess i'll hang onto the other hpt for the next time i'm a week late and panic.

don't worry wait another week and test again. but as hard as it might be try not to worry or else it will postpone it even more. it could be alot of things making you late: stress, lack of exercise/increase of exercise, change in diet, medications, and travel. i agree with sandy that it could very well be old blood. also pregnancy symptoms and pms symptoms often are the same and can confuse even the most tuned in person. also every cycle is different you might have alot that are alike but everything you do plays a role in if you ovulate on time and so forth. so yes anything is possible even for the person with the menstrual cycle that seems can be set in stone.

you could go to the doctors and get a blood test as they are more acurate
and the brown mucus from your last period was just most likely "old" blood
good luck
