Negative pregnancy test

I took a pregnancy test today after being 6 days late from my period and it has been about 2-3 weeks after unprotected sex, we used the pull out method and even after that I was still paranoid and bought the pregnancy test, it came out negative and I feel a little weight lifted off my shoulders, I've been very stressed lately with this pregnancy scare and i still do not get my period, I'm planing on taking another test in a week and if it comes out negative as well and I still don't have my period, what could it mean? Is it bad if I don't get my period this month? Is it necessary to go to the doctor if I don't?

I completely agree that you need to use reliable birth control.  The pull out method does NOT work to prevent pregnancy.  All men emit pre ejaculate that has enough sperm in it to get you pregnant prior to having an orgasm.  It is playing with fire to think of the 'pull out' as any type of preventative measure to pregnancy.

I do always tell women to wait a week.  Sometimes we test too early.  So, I'd wait one week and then take another test if your period hasn't shown up.  You don't need to see a doctor.  Home tests are very reliable and being late for one's period is common.  Stress among other things can be a factor.  good luck

If you purchased a name brand HPT and it was negative...........trust it. You are not pregnant. Most likely your period has not come on yet because you sound stressed to the max, which can easily delay or even prevent you from having a period this month.

If you are so concerned about being pregnant, why are you going to wait another week to test again? You are either pregnant or you're not.......and your first test told you you were NOT.

I think to ease your stress you should do another test ASAP. Two tests will not be wrong. When the second tests also comes up negative, try a very hot bath which will hopefully relax you enough for your period to start.

Unless you are having bad cramping and pains, there is no need to see your doctor. Like I said, your stress level may very well prevent you from having a period this month. You will probably have a fairly heavy one next month which is also nothing to be concerned about because you will be shedding 2 cycles of uterine lining instead of one.

I would also strongly urge you and your partner to use condoms rather than the "pull out" method. Accidents happen and even though the chances are fairly small, there is often times enough sperm in pre-ejaculate to get you pregnant. It only takes ONE sperm!

Also, unless you and your partner are in a TOTALLY committed and monogamous relationship, unprotected sexual intercourse puts you at high risk for HIV and other STD's..........along with pregnancy.

Please let me know how your second pregnancy test turned out.
