Ovarian Cyst

Hi guys,
I had a cyst on my left ovary which was the size of a football, got terrible pains and made my stomach swell like I was 5 months pregnant. I ended up being rushed in to surgery a year ago to have it removed as it was feared it was about to rupture. They removed the cyst and the left ovary, the cyst weighing 8lbs when it was removed. I have a 8 inch scar down my stomach, and it did take me a good few months to recover...however you need to listen to your body when it's telling you to rest. Your other ovary DOES takes over and produces an egg once every month instead of once every other month. Chances are you could of always produced eggs from the one ovary every month and not the alternatives...periods should return to regular pretty much straight afterwards although you can bleed after the operation.
Good luck everyone

Hi, I'm 28, I was operated for an ovarian cyst on the the right side in Feb 2010. Since late April I'm having the same kind of pain again, ultrasound shows a couple of cysts on both ovaries. I have no pain on my left side though. Last Wednesday I the gyn told me that the cyst are not the cause of the pain. They tell me my pain is to high, but have had 4 doctors poking me in my abdomen for 2 days, now I do have a slide pain in my left side too. Is it possible that the cyst are the cause anyway? pain meds don't help. they tell me that I should have pain in my lower central abdomen for it to be my cysts causing the pain. I have pain in my lower right abdomen, radiating to my leg or upwards. I'm not able to work anymore (work in a preschool), major headaches, dizziness, of course pain in my abdomen, reduced appetite, unable to sleep. I want them to take out my right ovary but they say I'm to young!! I have a burning  desire to become a foster parent (as of next year, need to finish studies first) but need to be healthy.
What can I say to the doctors so that they'll take out my ovary?
I've been told that sometimes they operate a bit to quick in the States but here in Norway it's on the slow side  :o(
