i can't believe i'm not alone

i'm a 28 year old female, and this crazy random lower leg itch-attack has been present in my life off and on, as far back as i can remember.  since we are still a nameless lost cause, all i can say is, the only thing i feel has helped me at all, is taking a benadryl as soon as i feel the itch coming on.  it's always a little while after the shower, as most of you also said, but it doesn't happen to me every day.  just try taking a benadryl.  yeah it makes you drowsy, but what's worse, the effed up itching, or being drowsy?  i'll take drowsy.

This discussion is related to Itchy legs, no sign of rash or irritation.

I read a comment for curing bilateral itchy legs a while back and it has totally worked for me and I want to share it!  My legs started itching bilaterally all of a sudden and would really itch more after a shower and at night time when I was in bed.  It was driving me crazy!  I had no rashes or bumps but the scratching was leaving my legs bruised.  Then I read a comment on this website and all I had to do was exfoliate my legs in the shower a couple of times a week!  That's it!  You  have to get a rough loofah and REALLY scrub your legs hard.  It took about three weeks of doing this for the itchiness to completely go away but I'm still exfoliating my legs twice a week and my legs are no longer itchy and are extra smoothe!  I can't find the original post of the person who recommended this to thank them but they saved my sanity!
NO longer itching!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
If the itch has been present for such a long time, then neurodermatitis should be ruled out. Neurodermatitis develops when nerve endings in the skin become irritated, triggering a severe itch-scratch-itch cycle. Common causes of nerve irritation include an insect bite and emotional stress. In such type of itching, cooling lotions like those containing camphor or menthol, capsacain or local anesthetic creams, amitriptyline and gabapentin tablets and electrical cutaneous nerve field stimulation prove effective.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
