Sorry that you have panic attacks but SO relieved that you weren't having the world's longest, most drawn out heart attack ever.
If you need it, I can help you get lots of good info on how to manage symptoms of a panic attack.
Thanks Mawmaw...I am going to try it next time..........out! Thanks again!!
Actually, from my 'research' (taking my bp before and after a hot shower) I have found that hot water will raise your blood pressure, therefore you will probably feel worse instead of better if you take a hot shower, Confused. I hope the cold works for ya.

Wow, I took a scalding hot one and came out red as heck and I am positive it made it worse!!!! That may actually be true!!!! I am not sure about the bathing suit, LOL, but I am gonna try it when I get another one bad!! Thanks.
A cold shower!! When you feel a panic attack beginning, get in the shower and turn it to cold!! I recommended this to my sister who suffered panic attacks and while she was skeptical it would work, she called me really excited and said it stops the attacks cold. What is really funny is that she said she could only stand the cold shower if she was wearing her bathing suit (like she was in a swimming pool...LOL).
It has let up a little using some of these things. Thanks again to everyone.
anything to distract me when it happened is what i did.....walking would work....anything to snap u out of it and calm u down...glad u didnt choose the benzos...go girl!
Emmas Mom, thank you, I do know that feeling and I can't explain to my family what is happening. I think that they all think I am nuts, which I am, but not about this! It is the scariest thing. OMG.......I was told last night by a friend to walk too. I am willing to try anything just about!!
yes...anything like that will help....the breathing techniques are very important for me when I have anxiety..I did not mean to try and suggest yoga for ya! it is great tho...here are some sites to learn about breathing

I have horrible anxiety. I have taken xanax and clonopin for it, but that can sometimes make it worse. When I am anxious or having a panic attack, I will turn white scary pale, my heart races, and I am all sweaty and trembling. I know how scary it is. What has really helped my is to get outside at the first sign of a panic attack and walk. Try to control your breathing. I found out that I was forcing myself into panic attacks by hypervetilating myself because I was convinced I needed to get a "deep" breath. Hope this helps!
I am trying the brathing thing....LMAO...me yoga, funny!!!! My daughter friends all think I am so cool cuz I can do cartwheels and flips but yoga is not really my cup of tea. I know nothing about it all. I have some CD caleed Spirit Flutes by David R. Maracle, think it might help. Its indian music and is sooooo relaxing. Thanks again everyone. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasnt for this damn pain!!!!!!
Good for you not letting the doctor hand you over pills. Always research any meds before you take them. At least you know what's going on and it's not your heart. Now maybe that will take some pressure off of you.

I am glad it was not anything more serious.....I have read that panic attax can be part of recovery for some...so hopefully now u know what they are and you can work on it...i think they will pasa and are just a phase of your recover....not comfortable tho...i have had them before/not related to narcotics/maybe hormonal for me as I had just had a child....they passed but they were scary....have you tired yoga or atleast the breathing techniques that you use during yoga? helps me fall asleep when I am stressed/the breathing techniques

Thank you so much. I feel like that too, like passing out. I get so hot and sweaty and dizzy. I can't stand the pain from it. I am gonna try the times table and the music from catmagnet. Thanks everyone. Just really don't want xanax or anything of the sort.
Im thinking of you. I have panic too, and Bob Marley always helps me! Take care
I suffered from panic attacks when I was younger. It was awful. Then when I was diagnosed I had what they called "fear of fear" attacks. I had one right on the table when the doctor told me. I was afraid of always having one, that the fear of them threw me into having one. The doctor told me, to be afraid of them only compounds the problem. He said most people will never notice you are having one.(as that was a big fear that others would see).
This might sound crazy but this is how I overcame them. ....first...don't be afraid of them....second....give your brain a distraction....I did the multiplaction tables 3x3 , 4x4 5x5 by the time I got to 10x10 it was easing up. Make sure you are thinking and not doing this from memory. It really worked for me.
I have to tell you I had these axiety attacks so bad I was sure I was going to pass out while driving many times.
Yeah, I'm back already! At least I wasn't on here last evening or last night til 4:30 am, I could have sworn yesterday I saw those "spirals" in my eyes, you know , like when characters get hypnotized in the old cartoons, lol, years ago I got a BUNCH of new age music cassettes( I guess that doesn't make them too new now), I'll stop kidding now, I just can't help it, the artists names are Kitaro, Carlos Nakai, Marnie Jones, Amethystium, it's all very relaxing music to listen to. There's a lot of other artists too, I've literally got dozens of tapes and can't go through all them now. I used to take a little time out of a stressful day, lie down on the couch, and listen to that stuff, and man oh man, most of the time I was so relaxed I went to sleep. Also used those before so I could sleep at night! Up until now, I forgot I even had those, I think I'll try them again to help relieve this insomnia. At that particular time period in my life, I wasn't using any drugs at all , well except for the booze, which is always on and off for me.
Well at least you know. I think the anxiety was horrible for me. I can't imagine how bad panic attacks would be.
Be well!!
Melissa
Sometimes just knowing what it is,helps..like knowing you're NOT having a heart attack!!!
You research your meds...that is always a GOOD thing to understand....and go from there...i have faith in you confused, things will become clear!! LOL
Maybe try Lavendar aromatherapy....it's certainly hard to think of these things while you're in the middle of living life and suddenly you're ready to have a nervous breakdown.....it's almost crippling. I'm right there with you sister.....
Gotta laugh, even tho panic is NO joke. I've been plagued with em for most of adulthood, it sucks because they tend to hand out ativan and xanax like candy, don't wanna go down that road. Anyways, excercise really helped cut down on my attacks. Hope whatever you try works well for you, it might just help to know exactly what you're dealing with the next time an attack hits, knowing for certain its an attack that will pass can be helpful. Best of luck and MUCH LUV!!!
Oh, you poor thing, I have those dam things too, first time i thought i was having a heart problem.. Hang in there!!!!!
I'll be praying for you.
Hugs
