Tramadol for two weeks

Hi everyone, I was prescribed tramadol for two weeks after minor surgery. When I ran out of my script of 30 I started to feel withdrawal symptoms (weird considering it is not supposed to be addictive yeah right). I took 2-3 80mg a day. Today was my second day off of them and I know the w/d can't last long. But the question I want to ask is, I found one of my tramadol today that was left on a dresser and took it. Will taking this tramadol post pone my withdrawal symptoms? Will I have to feel them for 3 days all over again? Like, will it be back to the way I felt yesterday tomorrow when I wake up? Will I have to start the 3 days of withdrawing all over again? I am pretty sure it would have only been a 3 day withdrawal because of the way I felt when I woke up this morning.... I big improvement from yesterday and by the fact I only took them for two weeks I think that it would only be a few days of uncomfortableness. It wasn't terribly horrible but I have two toddlers and the withdrawal greatly affects my mood and it is hard to watch them both without getting upset with them and normally I can hold my temper. Please, does anyone know if I will start the w/d's over again?

Tramadol addictive/causing withdrawals? I believe it! It works for every person differently. From my understanding, it is not addictive like an opiate might be, but it has a small dose of antidepressant in it. So basically, you're withdrawing from an antidepressant. I've taken tramadol in the past for long periods of time and kicked it, no problem. BUT my boyfriend -needs- them to function. Without them, he becomes very, very depressed and angry. He has no energy. And the withdrawal lasts 10-12 days for him and his pain increases in tenfold during this period. Be careful with that medication! Most doctors do not tell you that it contains SSRI's and all anti-depressants require tapering... they think you can stop this drug cold turkey. NOT!

I apologize if any of the information I provided were inaccurate. I'm going by what I have read and seen.

Hey everyone... thnx for ur posts. I am feeling okay today. Apparently one did not set me back. Thank God! I couldn't imagine the withdrawal if people had taken them for longer that a month! If you w/d from 2 weeks of taking them (even only a slight w/d like blood pressure being high and a little insomnia) then imagine how bad it is for people who have taken Tramadol for months or years! OUCH! Well I am glad to be feeling better. It was more like a slight case of the flu or cold or whatever. Thank u for your posts. And BTW The Tram was not extended release did some research apparently it is just 80 mg reg. and doctors don't prescribe it often.

Yes vicki....There are warnings everywhere now!  It's the doctors (some of them) who don't warn the right way.  I mean....who reads all the pharmacy paperwork anyway???!!! : )))) Not me.  I just look for the red label that says "May cause drowsiness or dizziness" and then I figure that's for me!!!  (getting sense of humor back, sorry!)

Hi~~  Did you adopt your screen name from "Wuthering Heights"??

You should be okay...But,I would definitely call that doctor. Or when you see him, tell him of this experience.  It happens to so many people.  Just curious, does the pharmacy enclose any info with the tramadol about possibility of addiction?
Feel better~Are you still in pain?

You can set yourself back slightly by taking tramadol during WD.  I did the same thing, but I did it on day 2,  It's not horrible, but tram has a long half life and if you took 80 mg then you are on a different kind.  Regular tram only comes in 37.5 and 50 mg if I remember correctly!  Then there are extended release. If you took one of those, then you have set yourself back!

Good luck!  I hated tram WD.  It was horrible!!!

Well duh! I am not an ignorant mom. The tramadol was on my dresser and that room is locked until night time with a key. I have two toddlers and I know how they can climb believe me I know. I am a mom of two and know not to let toddlers get to medication.

Whatever you're taking, don't leave them lying around where your toddlers can get them.  Some of them are expert climbers!

I took tramadol for a couple years.  I don't recall having horrible w/d effects from them, so you should be okay even taking the one.  I would say dont take any more though, tramadol has an anti depressant in them,  may make you feel worse than regular opiates..not sure.  Great luck to you :)

Thank You.... hopefully it won't set me back. It seems like tramadol is the worst! I never have withdrawled from opiates from taking them for two weeks! This is ridiculous. LoL
