hi and welcome NewFaith! i really don't have experience with morphine WDs but i was taking 15+ Norco daily for many years.....went CT and it was doable but not fun at all....as you know....just try and be patient with yourself and get plenty of rest....drink lots of fluids....ensure, gatorade....boost....soup....and if you haven't heard of the Thomas recipe, check it out at bottom right corner...this site is an awesome place for info and especially for support from others....
just hang in there, someone with knowledge and experience coming off morphine should come along soon...keep posting and asking questions...we are all here for you!! weekends sometimes are slow so be patient....keep us updated! you can do it!
also i've heard that tramadol is hard to WD from as well....so maybe be careful with that.....just heard on here, no experience with them long term.
Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. I got the Thomas Recipe quite a while ago, but haven't been brave enough/ready to really try this until now. I can truly say I have my heart and determination in it now.
My tooth breaking couldn`t have come at a worse time either. I didn`t want the hydros, but have also heard horror stories about the tramadol. I am trying to manage my tooth pain with alternating tylenol and motrin.
Again, thanks for your reply.
you're very welcome!! hope all goes well with your tooth...i work for a dentist but she is an orthodontist so we don't really deal with that type thing.....good luck with it all...and keep watching here....you can do this...you are stronger than you think.....i figured out the hard way i was too... :)
Hi there! So Toothfaire is absolutely right in that you should avoid Trams like the plague!! They are a nasty drug to kick if you stay on them too long. Not to mention they su*k as far as managing pain! You would be best to just flush them and stay far away! To be honest, when it comes to tooth pain (which I have had alot of) ibuprofen or aleve works better than even narcotics most of the time. I would try that if you can.
Definitely check out the Thomas recipe, it gives alot of gret tips on how to manage w/d symptoms. Also keep yourself as busy as you can to help with the mental aspect of kicking opiates. Oh and also, Lots of hot baths for the skin crawling and anxiety! I practically lived in the bath tub the first week!
Morphine is a strong opiate so your physical w/d's wont be pleasant but you can definitely kick it. Just manage the symptoms as best you can and stay close to this forum for support.
Congrats on the decision to take your life back! You wont regret it!
Hi and congrats for taking the biggest step !!..
I will share a little with you in hopes that I can give you the hope you may need ..well I needed it when I started the first days lol
I was on some of the strongest meds known..I have taken over the last many years everything opiate and non practically..I went CT off Fentanyl and let me tell you its way stronger than morph..I took many different MG's of Morp over the years and it is stronger than hydros but still doable..The tramadol has very bad w/ds from my experience and I wouldnt suggest it if possible..
I suffer from cronic pain due to broken hips, back etc..I have dental pain and I agree fully with Theresa..Motrin/alieve/ibuprophen(generic version is wayyyy better due to its anti inflammatory properties.
I am now at 26 days clean and I want you to know that is IS possible though scary ..We here know very well what you are feeling and want you to succeed ..please do keep talking and anything you need to ask or even if you need to talk in general to get through the rough patch don't hesitate ever :D
You can always message me too..I will keep you in my thoughts !!
I am overwhelmed with your responses and support. It is appreciated more than you know. All I have read about Tramadol are horrible things so I am going to try my best to stay away from them.
I also sent an email to the local behavioral health center. I`m hoping to start some kind of therapy while I still have good insurance.
I really can`t thank you all enough!
"All I have read about Tramadol are horrible things so I am going to try my best to stay away from them.".........Oh I really hope that you do more than TRY to stay away from these. To be honest, I would rather see someone take vics or oxys before they take trams! This is how horrible of a drug I think they are! I really really hope you will heed my warning and believe everything you have read on trams. They are all true!
GREAT job on sending the email though!! Aftercare is SO important!!
Keep us updated on how your doing!
Please try real hard to stay away from Trams I've had to taper off them and its been 36hrs since my last dose and it is HELL. It will be days if not weeks till I feel better... Good luck to you and just stay strong and away from Tramadol...
I have taken morphine, for the same reason as u...no true high and i was also a hydro abuser. I did not abuse them and had no significant wd either. We r all different tho....morphine is another narcotic, not much more. Cut and sold on the street as heroin tho...but orally, it is not a drug known for a high abuse rate...same with dilaudid, but an IV drug abuser would kill for it.
Be safe..worry about things u have control over and always move forward (:
I read through this thread and wanted to offer you my encouragement. Sounds like you are on the right track .. Good job calling the behavioral health center and choosing to stay away from the trams...like Teresa and others have said, they stink.
How are you doing now? Yu should be coming up on two days...which is fantastic!
Do you have access to pills? Definitely break ties to those sources, if you do, because they will call your name. It sounds so...ugh, but it is so important.
Please seek professional help. "Heart and determination" are simply not enough with this disease, and as far as trams, only you what you are doing with those, this site is the one place to try and be honest.
Please seek out a meeting, or a rehab near you.
You can't do it alone.
