Needing Support

Question

Well for those of you who don't know me, my DOC is tramadol. I had been taking anywhere from 8-13 50mg tabs/day along w/50-60 mg hydrocodone. I have failed soooo many times CT and tapering. I decided a month or so ago to try suboxone. I was rx'ed 16 mg day. I hated it. 
   Currently I have not taken any tramadol for 2+ weeks but continued to take the hydro and or suboxone when I ran out of the hydro. Been taking hydro for the last couple weeks ran out yesterday and took suboxone 4-6 mg the last 2 days.
Which brings me to now...I have a refill on my ultram ready to be filled and an apt Dec 8th for hydro. I will run out b4 that if I fill them. I have been taking an antidepressant for the last 2 wks since stopping the ultram. I don't want to go back on that *hit. I just want to cry. I have a 3 yr old and work a very high stress high pressure quick paced job part time.
I look around the house is a mess. The holidays are here and I'm looking to actually put in a transfer request at work to another dept. I feel like this isn't a good time to quit. I'm soo disgusted and emotional.The flu ***** but for me the anxiety is a 15 on a 1-10 scale. Hubbie thinks I should be able to watch our son and wk through it. I've done CT b4 & know for me it's unrealistic. I'm sure it's the addict in me but I've almost justified filling those tommorrow so I can clean house and get things done.... I'm soo Fu**in depressed. When will the time ever be right?

I am going to speak to my doctor about Wellbutrin and the aminos. This is scaring me more and more now. Better to be safe than sorry. I told my addiction doc I was taking the Thomas receipe and he/she had no problem with it. I guess in the end, I get all confused. Take this, don't take that. What the heck is going on with all these interactions?? Should I show my addiction doctor this thread as I see the doc on Monday? The panic is setting in again and I am afraid to stop taking the AD. If I stop the Wellbutrin, I am not sure if I'll get sick. Maybe an emergency call to the doc tommorow will help. I have enough on my plate to have to worry about this all weekend. I am a wreck here. I listenened to you about the addiction of trams and am very very careful with them. Actually didn't need to even refill them this month. They scare me. At first I felt better, now I am a wreck and will be watching tv all night worrying. Anxiety disorders are hard to beat along with addiction and CP and alcohol (did not drink 2night) whoohoo! I guess to ease my mind I will print this out or memorize it and call my doc. Otherwise my weekend is shot. Any other people with knowledge of this to ease my mind would be of great benefit here. Scared to death. Searched the net and read my insert to the Wellbutrin. Maybe I'll call a 24 hour pharmacy and see what they say. Maybe the Thomas Receipe is not good on sub. Seems like trial and error. I just don't like to be afraid to eat meat, take aminos or make the wrong move or seriously I will be in the ER breathing into a paper bag. Been there and done that many times. Thank you for your help! Much appreciated here!

Oh.... Thank Goodness, I have been following the Thomas Receipe trying to get better. I am on Wellbutrin and in the last 3 hours took 100mg of 5hgp and I was actually thinking of going to the ER as I have an anxiety disorder and felt a panic attack coming on. Also, belly is full of left over turkey from yesterday. Thank you to the above poster as I can now breath better and calm myself down. I have been actively watching this post and was out of my mind with panic. Pheeewwwwww!!!!! Feel better now!

There is an even larger/hundreds of popular rx drugs taken by millions of people that "can" and I repeat "can" cause seizures, dizziness, blurred vision, palpatations, rashes, allergic reactions that can cause death, constipation, sleepiness, hallucinations, suicidal ideations, trouble sleeping, dry mouth, nausea and vomiting, stomach pain, flushing, headache, loss of appetite, increased sweating, joint aches, weakness, change in urine color and output, breathing difficulties, 
this list goes on and on ..natural supps do also have some side effects but not to the extreme that rx drugs do or they would not be sold over the counter as people would be dropping like flies on a daily basis from their "deadly side effects"....if people were dying from 5 htp and tyrosine then meat would be taken from the grocery store and the lawyers would be having a field day...people just do not in reality drop dead from taking amino acids....if they did GNC would be out of business

This gives you a better idea of what you dont want to mix I didnt even know about someof these I think I will make a post o it as well not everyone is a aware how danguos mixxing some of these meds can be 

However, serotonin syndrome can also occur when you start a single new drug that affects serotonin levels or when you take an increased dose of such a drug that you've previously used. Many drugs may lead to serotonin syndrome. These drugs include but aren't limited to:

■SSRIs such as citalopram (Celexa), fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem), fluvoxamine, paroxetine (Paxil) and sertraline (Zoloft) 
■Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) such as trazodone (Desyrel) and venlafaxine (Effexor) 
■The norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI) buproprion (Wellbutrin, Zyban) 
■Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan) and phenelzine (Nardil)

also if you go back on the tram I would not even take something like wellburtin its not worth the risk of an intercation but that just my opinion in the end the only one that know what is best for you is you and your doctor can be a big help If you need to talk feel free to pm me

I used zoloft for an ssri  5hpt works like an ssri as does tramadol

I agree with Worried878 in regards to all not all ADs affecting serotonin levels as I take an AD that effects the dopamine levels. I too take 100mg of 5HTP daily. The other woman was correct in saying to ask your pharmacist. Best of luck and keep posting.

I think talking to your pharmacist is best as not all ADs affect seratonin levels....again..it is imp[ossible to eliminate 5htp from your diet if u eat protein  the more u eat the more u have in ur body....it is a natural supp and what u do not need is eliminated unless u have a kidney disorder

she is on an an anti depressant that is why I told her that

If you are going to  stay anti depressant the 5 hpt is fine just dot take them together

the fact is that 5htp could help her tremendously right now with the depression she is experiencing from the tram wd but would best to stay at 50-100 mg a day until the tram has cleared her body completely

5htp does not interfere with sub nor hydos as it affects seratonin levels...she is off the trams..at a high dose of trams 5htp is contrindicated...but not with sub nor hydros...turkey is full of tryptphan which is broken down into 5htp/hence the sleepy effect....any protein is full of 5htp...it is hard to avoid 5htp in ur diet unless u r a vegetarian and avoid eggs and beans as well

If you stay on an antidepressant DO NOT TAKE 5HPT. 
I would hate to see you go back on the trams after two weeks off.There is no time like the present .Think a about it you could be clean for christmas ...

I dont think for most there is ever a good time to quit..u just have to be fed up and done..over it...sick and tired of being sick and tired...gotta let go....i am not sure sub helps so much with tram wd as tram is also an AD...enhances seratonin ...i am not sure the sub is going to replace that for u....and it can get u even deeper than u r....perhaps ask ur doctor for a AD to help and stay away from the trams..the 5htp and thomas recipe can help...i do know that what u r doing now/ swapping from sub to hydro is not gonna help and make things worse..depression is the hard part of tram wd and teasing ur brain by doing this back and forth thing is not helping...please make a choice and then stay with ur choice...people need u and u need urself as well..dont lose urself in the midst of this..those pills are just not worth it

When will the time be right ? always and never, wannawean...i mean this is like one pill is too many and a thousand is not enough.

we will always find that the circunstances are not right, we all do it until we realised that we wil never quit this way ...it sounds to me you are going through really hard times and feeling exhausted, depressed, down, tired and even sick..

but  you are already doing a lot and its not because of the plls but because you can be such  strong, please, trust yourself and you will know the right time is this one. :) you are doing a great work, keep on this track..

and now, tramadol is not my doc but from what i read here it gives quite a handful of hard mental wd's so maybe someone with experience can give some advice to you about them but meanwhile...i wish you the best of lucks because it can be done and u can do it, of course, trust yourself and learn  about the best way of handling wds ( aminos thomas recipe )... keep posting, ok?
