Any info on temazepam?

Well i am on day 18 but this sleep issue has gotten the better of me.....I called my Dr today and he prescribed Temazepam 30 mg...he says i can take it for up to two weeks...We had along talk about my anxiety,  there are certainly factors in my life other than WD's so maybe this will help.....I told him i did not want to take anyhting that could lead down a path of furthur addiction...He says as long as I only get presciptions from him we will stay on top of it...

He gave me a script for 30 but my insurance will only pay for 15 every 27 days.....seems weird.

Any info would be appreciated...

thanks for the suppprt..It's 5:30 am I di djust get 6 hours of unimterruted sleep... I am hoping that will be the beginning.......I sure want it to be....I intend to try this sleep aid for a week and see what kind of result I get.....If i get a couple of good nigths sleep i think I'll change to tyleno PM and see if I can get by with that....

I travel alot so the sleep issue really gets to me as i am in unfamiliar surrondings quite often and I need to be alert during the day....we will carry on and continue down this raod to recovery....

I think you will be fine taking this med...Also you are being very honest with your doctor and this shows how strong you are in beating this..Sleep , was the last thing to come with me...And something we need so bad to function..I remember those nights, and i did take many different things , until i found the right one to help me...Most of the OTC meds made my sleep worst, and the RLS...I forgot to write in a previous post that the one thing that helped me the most to sleep was Zanaflex, and it couldn't be the generic..I remember the first night i took it and sleep a full 8 hours...It felt great..I didnt' use it that long, as sleep did come back..I think out bodies just knock out after it knows SLEEP is needed to function...Good luck, and try it, if it doesn't work, be honest with your doctor and try something else...Once your body starts sleeping, you know you can flush it...YOU are doing great!!!

not everyone abuses every med they touch..and others do..i did not and did use a sleep aid/ambien during detox..i work and i work hard..i had to have my sleep...or i woulda failed...if 2 weeks on sumpin to help u sleep with play a part in ur recovery then i would go for it and heed the warnings give,,,,some drugs like muscle relaxers, phenergan, elavil can all make u sleepy as well without the risk of addiction...for me benzos have never been a drug of abuse but i do know they can be deadly for many

Hi Jambo,

I've taken tamazepam at different times in my life, and used it for lack of sleep during and after withdrawals.  But I purposely didn't take it every night because of the addiction.  I alternated it with tylenol pm and zanix.

I've found in the past that sometimes you get too used to it and it doesn't work as well.  Another good reason to alternate.

Best Wishes.

temeazepam is an rx sleep aid...not really an aid, it'll knock you out for the night.  it's generic for restoril. when i was at the clinic we used to switch this drug for patients whos insurance wouldn't pay for ambien or lunesta...it can be addicting...it gets easier to become addicted when used for more than 3-4 weeks straight.  not sure why insurance won't cover the whole month...did you ask the md about prior-authorization for this drug? if you're worried about becoming addicted maybe talk to your doctor about rozeram (sp?) it works different than lunesta, ect... it's supposed to help your internal clock "reset", so that way you're supposed to be tired by the end of your day...but it won't "put you to sleep", so it's somewhat safer. but if you're only using it for a week or 2, i say go for it...that being said, be careful if you're worried about another addiction.

Its a benzodiazepine with a high risk of dependance.Real easy to get use to and hard to get off of. Be careful.
