I have taken trams and occassionally still do when I am out of lortabs. I do not get a high from them but it helps my pain a little. I do not find them addicting but there are others who do get high and have been addicted to them. Just be careful with it.
I am still here ...LOL its very addicting I would only take if you just cant handle the pain .take it as sparingly as you can it does not take long at all of taking it before you would have WDs coming off of it .It is my DOC its a nasty little drug .
Let me clarify something I said above: My doc prescribed the trams because the Tramadol literature says it doesn't produce a high. The drug companies continue to tout Tramadol and Ultram as "safe alternatives to opiates." Remember, Heroin was once sold in the same manner as a safe alternative to Opium.
In my case it was indeed true that I didn't get a buzz, but I have read here that others did indeed get buzzed. Like I said, if affects everyone differently.
My doc prescribed tramadol for the expressed reason it DOESN'T produce a high. I had quit c/t from vicodin but still has occasional pain issues. While I did indeed find the tramadol did not produce that buzz I got with the vikes, it did become very addictive. My eventual tapering and withdrawal from trams was very excrutiating, more so than the vikes, and I was only on the trams for three months.
It also affected my mood and in retrospect made me feel pain I really didn't have. That was the drug feeding itself.
Tramadol is indeed dangerous in the siezure department, both while taking it and while withdrawing from it. It is one of the drugs you should NOT stop c/t.
And lilke all drugs, it seems to affect everyone just a little different.
It is very effective, and if you can "take as directed" and ONLY as directed, you should be OK. But, right there in the data sheet, buried in paragraph 35 or some such place, is the statement "Should not be taken by individuals that are, or have been, addicted to opiates."
That just about sums it up.
tramadol gives you quite a buzz. i found it quite effective for my pain when i took it. it caused seizures in me so i had to stop taking it. i was on it for about 4-5 months at 200-400mgs a day. i had no withdrawal symptoms. others have had different experiences to me though. hope that helps.

Avisg has taken tram,I don't think shes here right now though.Emilypost has tons of journaling about tram.I don't have any first hand experience with it so I don't know if it gets you high or how long it takes to form an addiction to it.I can tell you that you have to stop taking the 800mg motrin that way,I'm sure you already know that though. If you like I can pull Emilyposts journal up for you on the sidebar so you can go and read it.There is tons of info about tram in them.Let me know.I'm sure someone will be along who has some first hand knowledge too.....Kim
