Norco Detox - Day 4

Not even sure what to write. I don't have the energy yet to go into a diatribe about the increasingly dumb decisions I've made, day after day. I hope this is the end of my substance abuse. I'm really hopeful, thankfully, about a future free of opiates. I feel so far away from the person I used to be; the person I hope to become. I'm just going to focus on making better decisions everyday, for the next few months, and let that snowball into a new lifestyle, clean and sober. Thanks for reading.

Hang in there. I am on day three and it feels like hell on earth, but we have to be strong. We have to make that decision that we want a better life for ourselves and the ones around us. I almost hate doctors well some of them I feel like all they are is licensed drug dealers. They keep giving you more and more to keep you coming back. They know damn well what pain meds do to people. They just **** me off. I worked for a pain management doctor for sometime and witnessed exactly how he worked. Phew only gave them enough meds for a week so they would have to come back every week so he could bill there insurance and collect the patients co pay. Of course I got fired from there because I got his DEA # and was calling in my own scripts. But I am just saying doctors now a days suck. You really have to research to find a good honest doctor. Stay strong tommy life will get better.

As you have already experienced, pain killers well they don't call them killers for nothing. Here's a truth that helped me a little. I read this young womans story, and she had to get 3/4 of her stomach removed from abusing opiates. Add to that the constipation, withdrawal, and grief it brings and it may help you to stay away. When you have chronic pain it is a constant battle and eventually whatever pleasure you got will go away. I really feel compassion for you because its a constant battle for me too. If you want to talk again there is plenty of love and support around here. Good Luck Tommy15

Hi - Thanks for commenting. I've been abusing opiate painkillers for about 6-7 years, off and on. Anywhere from 20-100mg per day, depending on my supply. Of course, every story has an origin, but I'll keep mine brief. I had major surgery when I was 16, spent 2 weeks in the hospital, came out dependent on opiates, with out understanding it, after being given a multitude of opiate pain killers 3-4 times per day for my whole stay. Got over that rather quickly as you might expect, being my first time and all, and didn't have a problem until I had my wisdom teeth removed a few years later. That's when recreational use started, about 10 years ago, late 2004...
