tramadol/darvacet

Doing the WD thing with a friend...not a whole lot of fun!  Anyway, she is taking 200 mg of tramdol daily to get through and is really not suffering near as bad as I am...I keep reading on here that tramadol can be very addictive...she also has darvocet and when I told her about the dangers of tramdol, she started on the darvocet and states that neither of these drugs make her high...I have also taken both i the past for pain and no high but am scared to take them right now...It is like I feel my receptors will stay dirty!  dumb but I only have 5 days to get ok and go back to work...Any input...has anyone used either of these to decrease WDs?  I ma taking .25 mg of valium about 4 x a day at this point and ambien to slepp

Hey there.. glad to see you decided to get clean.. The main thing is to focus on your own sobriety!  As for the Davocet, and tramadol it is a 2 way street on those. Since you two are withdrawling off hydrocodone if she is taking them only in very very small dosages just to help a little with the edge off of the sickness and only does this for a few days(at most) then it might help a little and shouldn't have any bad set-backs.. With that said, MOST  people(addicts) that are trying to detox from one drug then use a different(less weak) drug to decrease the withdrawl sickness feelings end up just abusing the other drug as well.. So all this does is set the detox back and sets back the time of recovery.. also if you get addicted to the tramadol then you are worse off then with the vicdion because tramadol can be deadly when quit cold turkey!(look it up)

Best thing to do is be the stronger one, and tough it out and you will be better off than your friend(TRUST ME)!! Then you will feel much better after about 5 says or so..  Please keep us posted on your success ok?

BEST OF LUCK

I have been in detox/rehab twice for use of tramadol.  All the time my doctors stated that tramadol is a non addictive medication.  Guess they were wrong!!  Struggle it out for a few days and it will get much better.  I know it sucks right now, but I never imagined how much better I felt after I detoxed and began to think normally again.  I have some serious addiction trouble with vicodin, oxy, tramadol, phentenyl, and percocet.  Please hang in there and by the grace of God, you will just fine.  Dad of 8 (soon to be 10!)

From what I know. She is trading one problem for another. She may not be in withdrawals because she is not withdrawing. I quit from 8-10 7.5s vicodins cold turkey. It can be done. Hang in there.

In 5 days the worse will be over if your coming off opiates. Tramadol is a sythetic opiate and Darvocet is related to codeine. Either one will prolong the time to withdrawal. I fyou are trying to com e off something else, it is a different story. What are you w/d from?
