Mother needs help!

I'm 31 a mother of two married and I have been on lortab 10 and tramadol for over 2 years now.  I am an addict my scripts never last and yesterday was the day I was finally forced to go cold turkey!  I work a third shift job and I have my kids to keep up with! My husband is very supportive but his patience is running thin, I guess my question is how to subdue some of the withdrawal symptoms and continue my daily life?

Normally, on the right side of this webpage, there is an "activity box", within that box there usually has recent posts in the special tramidol forums.  ATM, there hasn't been a post within 15 minutes, so i can't copy and paste it here right now. It is a subpage thread/looks like our journal pages not a main page like this one.  There is daily tram talk and great support happening.  it's titled someyhing with "tramidol ultram 55"  Getting off trams is similar to other opiates, but they are synthetic with longer residules, their 50mg is five times weaker than mophine but stays longer, so you can't swap one for another.

I am on day 15 going cold turkey from Lortab and Tramadol... Feel very much better now but it is really hard for 3-4 days.  I cud tell a real difference about day 10 or 11.  I needed daily doses of Immodium for diarrhea, and just white knuckled it thru.  This forum was my life saver.  You will always find nonjudgemental support, any time of the day or those sleepless nites!  You really can do it and will be so proud of yourself in just a few days.  Much love

Ok, yeah that does. You should probably be fine then as far as going c/t. I would definitely not get anymore of those tramadols, even if you do slip and relapse. Like I said, IMO they are a horrible drug and I know first hand how hard w/d's are with those. Coming off the Lortabs will be much easier.

Just depends on which med I had at the time I've never taken 10-15 of each a day last thing I took 24 hours ago was lortab so I've had that for about two weeks I've only had maybe 20 tramadol in the last 10 days but that would be the next script I would've got until I decided to go cold turkey off of everything hope that makes more sense

Ok, so you were taking 10-15 a day of each?? Sorry im confused. The reason I ask is because Tramadol throws a big monkey wrench into things if so. Tramadol is NOT a fun drug to w/d off of and should not be done cold turkey if that can be avoided. It has an antidepressent componant to it and it can cause seizures as well.

Hi Conjen and welcome
My drug of choice was oxy so I am not familiar with Tramadol and Lortab.
Please do some research on this forum for going cold turkey from Tramadol.  Type that in  the search engine in this community and read other experiences, keeping in mind that everyone is different.

There isn't really an easy way out (I have looked for them all) of withdrawals but many find tapering helps.
As Teresa suggested, vitamins, imodium etc. all help to alleviate some of the symptoms.
This forum also helps when you just need to vent and need support.
Most of us get it and understand as we have been there or are going through it too.

Stay as healthy and eat as much as you can.  Your body will need it. Lots and lots of fluids.  I like gatorade.  There is potassium in it and we lose it when we are sick to our stomach.
Keep posting and ask as many questions as you like.
I am a little sick myself right now so hopefully my post helped. My brain is a little fuzzy lol.

HI Conjen and welcome! You are definitely not alone in that we have all been right where you are right now. I know that the fear of going through withdrawls is overwhelming but trust me when I tell you that if this is something you really want to do then you can do it!

I have a question, You said you take Lortabs and Tramadols and that your scripts have run out? Does that mean both of them you are going C/T on? Also, How much of both have you been taking because that will help alot.

What I did to help with my w/ds was take a mutilvitmin, Bcomplex, Calcium, Vitamin C. I took Immodium in the beginning for the stomach issues (no fun for sure) . I took alot of hot baths/showers to help with the "skin crawl" and also my achy muscles. And the most important thing I did was went on walks. A few of them a day starting at day 3. To me this is the most important thing I did because it helped with the mental aspect of is so much!! Try taking Alteril for the sleep issues you will have as well. Has helped alot of people.

There are alot of people here who were so supportive in my journey and will be here for you on yours. Your not alone in this, and were here to help you in anyway we can!

Congrats on taking this first step!!
