Good for you for flushing it!!! :)
soma is the modern day miltown. it's probably a good idea that you flushed them. they're neither a barbiturate nor a benzo, but they carry all the nasty baggage of both.
an addict with an affinity for soma is asking for trouble if they keep em around...Soma is a muscle relaxer..but it breaks down into a drug called meprobromate which is habit forming..indirectly, soma is habit forming and not the best choice in muscle relaxers for any addict to take. It is a drug that can work well if not abused..but some people tend to like abusing soma/ and if used daily in big amounts it must be tapered like benzos and trams....someone who takes 2 soma a day as RX-ed is not in addiction territory and most would not have an issue...but an addict may so it is not worth it...flexeril is much safer.
I take 3/day for back spasms pain and don't know if I'm addicted to it or not...I guess I can stop them for a while, but it sure helps when I do something to my back and can't stand up...which is more and more frequently lately.
I have been known to act goofy on it but I've gotten over that part now....are you sure your husband is takig as directed?
Jim
It was from an old back injury. Found in the back of a bathroom shelf while cleaning.
It is now flushed, thanks for all the input
My husband uses it for his back pain. He actually prefers it to the narcotics because his major problem is with spasming muscles the pain he can handle. I HATE when he takes it. He acts like he is drunk and we havent had a drop in three years!! HE slurs his words and acts stupid. I am terrified one day he is going to take to many I keep saying it is a muscle relaxer and your heart is a muscle DUH!! He gets 90 a month and the first three scripts were gone in 7 days I told if he didnt get it under control I was calling his doctor because they Will kill you. Needless to say he has since handled them much better and uses them only as prescribed. I have taken one and it did nothing, dont mess with them, I read on hear that doctors don't really prescribe them much anymore because they are so addictive, He swears they are not but hey he used to tell me after half a bottle of jum beam that he did not indeed have a drinking problem!! HA
Yes,indeed...It's VERY addictive and it's used for the relief of ACUTE ,painful muscle sprain/spasms. If "i came across" it, I'd flush it ASAP.
