4 Year Old, Months of coughing at night - A solution!!

by dangreen, Sep 12, 2009 07:29PM
Hi everyone,

We have found a solution and I wanted to let you all know.

Our son would be pretty much fine during the day, but as SOON as he lay down for sleep the cough would start.  At first we thought it was a cold, and the phlegm was running down his throat etc.  But after this went on for months and no other cold signs we ruled that out.
We also cut down on milk/diary product to stop phlegm build up, but still no real signs of improvement.
We vacuumed floors, cleaned ceilings and walls, cleaned all the bedding, pillow cases, clothing, tried numerous cough elixirs, syrups, lemon and honey drinks etc but the cough kept going, and our sleep deprivation was getting worse!!

After much search and asking questions - Here's what we came up with, and with an almost instant alleviation of the cough to the point now it's gone!

My clever wife made him a silk pillow case, we put an organic mattress between his normal mattress and his body and and also have some organic blankets.  That's it!!  It has gone.

We're also going to get a hypoallergenic pillow inner, but for now we're all getting sleep again.

When it's warm, we also open a window to get fresh air moving through the room etc...

I really hope this helps people out there with the same problem.  I know this works for adults to, as it's worked for me!  And I'm the hay fever king.

Kind regards

Daniel

Congratulations! We are often our best doctors because we put in the time and the thought to find a solution. I found the cure for my daughter, who was a semi-invalid for four years (age 8 to 12). I had taken her to the best pediatricians and they had come up with nothing. Unlike you I became very bitter. All that time I claimed she had suffered an injury, but they pooh poohed me.. I finally found a doctor (non-pediatrician) who wasn't too proud to listen to me. After all that misery she recovered quickly
