So I have one son who is allergic to amoxicillin and currently my other son is on it. The only reason I know to separate clothes and towels that are used is due to my mothers experience with her own allergy to penicillin. How long does the medicine typically stay in the system after stopping taking it? When will it be safe to wash all the clothes together again? I am currently washing everything about 3 times each if my son on the amoxicillin has used it.
Amoxicillin is primarily excreted in urine and in small amounts through feces and bile. The average half life of this drug ranges between 0.7-1.4 hours in patient’s with normal renal function. So, it is safe to wash clothes together after a day of stopping of therapy with amoxicillin. Best.
