Constant swollen glands

by Bertabug, Mar 23, 2008 04:02PM
I have had constant swollen glands in my neck for almost 2 years since I moved to Idaho. Recently I developed acid reflux. I am in to health and I have been taking apple cider vinegar daily, to help reduce it.  I have had a history of candida which I am also treating naturally.  I have seen MD's and I have seen natural pathic doctors and no one knows what it is. I am getting frustrated with the swollen glands, They are very uncomfortable and make swallowing difficult.  With the swollen gland comes fatigue and internally feeling cold. My hands and feet are not cold. I have done research on thyroid. I use to have a thyroid problem but through proper diet and natural methods my thyroid is working and functioning properly. I have been tested for mono. which I did have when I was 15. I am 49 now. I have had my adrenals tested and those are fine. I know that mono is caused from the epstein barr virus.  However, I am not tired all of the time. Some days the swollen glands are not so bad. I do notice when I feel stress they worsen. When they are very swollen like today, I experience anixety.  I am not an anxious person. What can it be?? HELP from anyone is has had these symptoms would be greatly helpful.

Hi,

You need to consult an ENT specialist for a clinical evaluation or even see your doctor for an examination. You most probably have swollen lymph nodes due to infection of the upper respiratory tract.

You would need a course of antibiotics, pain relief medications and oral antihistamines. Try some steam inhalation and warm saline gargles and see if it helps.

Has a needle aspiration or FNAC of the lymph nodes been done? This involves taking some cells from the site of lymph node enlargement for lab analysis.

Talk to your doctor about this - this should help to reach a diagnosis.

You should get a thyroid functon test done and also take some antireflux , antinausea medications like esmoprazole/rabeprazole with domperidone for a few days and see if it helps with your symptoms of reflux.

Let us know what your doctor says.

Keep us posted on how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
