Hives (urticaria)

I was taking Solodyn 65mg (minocycline time release for acne) and everything was fine until like the fourth or fifth day when I started getting hives. I initally thought it was something I had eaten but I after three days of having the hives I decided to stop taking the Solodyn. Today is my second day without Solodyn and I've been taking Benadryl and Alavert to ease the symptoms.
I still have the urticaria bumps mainly on my legs and wrists. Yesterday my hands were swollen the whole day but today haven't experienced any swelling and the bumps seemed to be more controlled and they aren't moving around all over my body anymore.
I'm really scared though because I started having a few palpitations earlier. i don't know if it could be related to the allergy...
How can i know I'm getting better or worse? I mean, i guess my skin is getting much better but after the palpitations i don't know if i could possibly be getting worse. How long do you think i have to wait and see if they go away before going to the ER or something...

I would go to the Emergency Room now, for you have been having symptoms of an anaphylactic response to an antibiotic and it is affecting your whole body.   I am glad that you are better after taking the Benadryl and Alavert, but since it is taking this long for you to get over it, a medical evaluation is necessary.  You often don't have reactions until 5-8 days after being on a drug, for it takes time for your body to make antibodies against what your body thinks is a foreign substance.

I also would recommend that you go to the MedicAlert Foundation or other similar group and get a bracelet or other piece of jewelry to wear that says you are allergic to this drug.
