Singulair use

by Chenne, Oct 10, 2007 09:10AM
My 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with Asthma at 6 months old.  She has taken every asthma medication available to her.  She has shown significant improvements due to locating and managing her triggers along with the medicine.  Thankfully she has not had an attack in the last 4 years.  She has not had to use either of her inhalers since then.  My concern now is if I can stop giving her Singulair.   She has been taking Singulair for the past 7 years and I feel uncomfortable giving my children a drug for long periods of time when they show no symptoms.

Can anyone give any information?

My daughter also was put on Singulair about 4 years ago. She has excercised induced asthma
and seasonal allergies.  She has been very well since we put her on it.   If your daughter is showing
improvement as you say I would keep it up.  I worry also about too many medications but have not
heard any negative information on this drug. I am thinking about getting on it myself because I am
showing signs of asthma and have always had seasonal allergies.  She does not seem to get sick
anymore and I do.  Everything I have read on this medication tells me it is not harmful.  Hope
you find answer to ease your mind.
