itching and rash in pregnancy

i am 35 weeks pregnant . for past 1 week i have been having severe itching throughout my body . it initially started in stretch marks  but now it is mainlyon my arms ,legs . i have developed papular lesions which develop into hives when i itch too much. my LFT(ALP,Liver enzymes and bil ) is normal. I was told it is PUPP. But can it mainly involve arms and legs?although my stretch marks are also red and elevated with some satellite urticarial lesions but now they itch less than my arms.i have no history of any allergy.calamine lotion, oil and  cetrizine are not helping much.

Hi,
How are you? Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy or PUPPP, is the most common rash in pregnant women. It normally occurs in first pregnancies during the third trimester (around 35 weeks).  The cause is unknown. But the rash of PUPPP almost always begins in the stretch marks of the abdomen. Over the next several days, it can spread over the thighs, buttocks, breasts, and arms.Fortunately, the condition is harmless to mother and baby. It can last for 6 weeks and resolves spontaneously 1 to 2 weeks after delivery. The treatment of PUPPP is symptomatic. If your medications are not helping, talk to your doctor for an alternative. Prescription steroid creams may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
