outer ear pain and burning
on and off for several years I have had very sore outer ears, Pain and burning, nothing in the inner ear or hearing problems.  I take ibuprofin to help relieve the pain, but it takes a long time to go away.  I asked my doctor, and she made a guess calling it angio neurotic edema.  Usually it's one ear at a time, but I have had both ears sometimes.  Help me!

Hi,

You could be having infection of thhe outer ear called otitis externa - you would a complete ENT evaluation for a confirmed diagnosis.

Talk to your doctor about refering you to an ENT specialist.

You could take pain relief medication for the pain till you get to see your doctor. You could try warm compresses to help with your symptoms.

Let us know if you have any doubts and also keep us posted about how you are doing.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
