Thumb joint pain and shooting pains

I jarred my thumb about 4 weeks ago . It was very painful at the time and ached for about a week afterwards but then got better. But now I have started getting shooting pains all the way up my thumb . I don't have to be doing anything in particular it comes and goes when it likes. Please help

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include fractures with mal-union/ non-union, inflammations/ degeneration, neural/ ligamental/ tendon injury etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician or an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
