wrist fusion.

Hi,
     Last October I fell from a tree and shattered my wrist. I since have had two surgeries and prolonged OT. I have regained some motion but am having enough pain so I can not function with the wrist. My Dr. says the pain is from bone on bone rubbing, no cartledge left, also arthritis. He has recommended total fusion. I am now wearing a splint that simulates fusion and am having much less pain.
     I was wondering if anyone out there has gone through something similar or has had a total fusion of the wrist. Just trying to get as much info as possible before I make a decision.

Sorry to read you are suffering with this pain for so long.  While I have not had fusion I do know from talking to doctors that once joints fuse (as they do in some case of ankylosing spondylitis) the pain goes away.  This is a big decision.  Have you asked the doctor about other options that might be available?
