Food induced asthma?

Is it possible to have foods like mustard or more than likely, the vinegar in it to trigger a mild case of asthma?  I LOVE mustard, BBQ sauce, etc. but everytime I eat them, and get a decent whiff of the sauce/condiment, I end up in a very short coughing spasm.  It might last 5 -10 seconds, sometimes a cough or two, other times something along the lines of a cold or flu cough.  After one or two fits, I'm fine.
I've never been diagnosed with asthma, but have had problems when running since I joined the Army back in 1996.  It always seemed like I couldn't breath enough to run faster.  But during my physicals for work, I do the lung capacity test and never have any problems.
This isn't a major problem for me, it's more like a nuisance, but something I am curious about.

Absolutely.  I can't eat grapes or honey without them causing my broncial tubes to tighen just enough to make me uncomfortable.  I can't even drink grape juice or anything with honey and I love the juice.

If you have any concerns, go get yourself check out. Running can cause asthma if you are an asthmatic.  I personally find asthma to be a nusance, but I am actually outgrowing it after 30 yrs and I now can run, excercise,etc, but keep the rescue inhaler on hand just in case of a sudden, unexpected attack.  Asthma is life threatening, but people can live full lives if the take care of themselves and take preventative medication.    Good luck!
