Shortness of Breath and Throat Tightness

Hi Doctor,

I have throat tightness for 10 years. I feel short of breath.I never wheeze. I am on Inhalers and Montelukast. The disease was manageble till 2 yeard back. But before 2 years my throat tightness  become severe and no medicines worked and it went off after 3 months. I did PFT, CT Scan , allergy tests etc. PFT showed "mild restriction". CT Scan Normal. IgE values are 650(normal 100). Does restriction means something other than asthma?? Can restriction cause thorat tighness. ?? Is restriction treatable??. I heard that only obstruction can be controlled with medicines.?? Can u point out any other possibilities like for the disease.??? If you can reply it will give some peace of mind for me.

Thanks
Renjith

Restriction is different from asthma (opposite pathology of the tightness).

I believe there are treatments for it but it tends not to be as successful as asthma medications.

The best would be to continue testing with your doctors and find a diganosis to why there is restriction.

I believe COPD is a possibility, unlike if you don't smoke though.
