Having to explain why I'm off work due to doctor visits.

Having to explain why I'm off work due to doctor visits.

Started the new job a couple of weeks ago and have moved as many doctor appointments as I can outside of work hours but there is still a couple I've had to go to during work hours.  I've put them in my diary as "private" but work is already asking what they are.  I've said they are doctor appointments that were made when I was unemployed but they don't seem too happy about it.  I said I've moved those that I could and that the only regular one now would be Family Therapist hoping that would get them to ease of a bit.  I'm working longer hours than normal anyway, I've had to concede two nights a week to work otherwise I'd be completely stuffed.  Not sure what to do, still need to see the doctors as I'm still recovering and getting myself better, but I've already gone through 4 jobs since last year.   Don't want to mention too much or else I'll lose my job, think I'm probably stuffed anyway with what has already happened.

Stuff it :0(

Oh, that *****.... Employers are so nosey... Would it be possible to get a note from your doctor to your manager explaining that the visits are in fact very important and that your privacy is your right (its called The Personal Health Information Act, and no one has the right to know any of your business but you, and your care takers unless you've given consent to specific persons)? Maybe your boss will have a soul and give you a break. If not, maybe you're better off finding a job with more understanding employers.

They shouldn't be able to fire you for going to doctors appointments unless you don't give them reasonable notice. I have to take time off work every month for the same reason and as long as I give enough notice they shouldn't be caring so much.
Maybe get a doctors note like the person above me suggested

It really is none of their business though and you're not obligated to tell them anything you don't want to.

I would just make sure to tell them when I was planning on making up that time.

I have two high risk pregnancies in a row (ugh) which led to a lot of doctors appointments. I made arrangements to work early or late to make up whatever I missed for my appointment sometime that week (and would remind my boss via email at the beginning of the week).  -Of course, this is assuming you're in a field that you can work early/late...

If they know they're getting 100%, they should back off. Especially once you prove it's not going to interfere with your overall job performance.

Yeah its a bit tough as I've only been in the job for a couple of weeks.  Have a feeling it might be just that type of boss.  I had to go out on the road with him today, he picked me up from my home at 7:00am and took me out all day and into the night.  Thankfully the last client for the evening he had organised cancelled otherwise I would not have got home until 11:00pm.  Instead I was able to get home at 9:00pm instead.  During the day he was barking orders to people at work over the phone, to the point that someone went home sick.

As we we're driving home at around 8pm he was trying to call staff on their mobile and then on their home phones to give them work for the next day.  What an a-hole!

I've already said I'll work late two nights a week just so that he will leave me alone.

Really though I doubt I'm going to last long in this job, problem is that it is the 5th job I've had now in the last year since I went Manic last year.  My Resume looks like a bit of a disaster now.

Worse I need the experience, I only have 7 months experience in this type of role and all other employers are asking for 3 years minimum experience so essentially I've just got to suck it up for the next year or at least as long as I can take.

Besides all the job losses and doctor bills now have us to the point where we might have to sell our house soon if I lose a job again.

That sounds really stressful and I really feel for you, Mean managers are a pain. Its like that saying:

An organization is like a tree full of monkeys... all on different limbs... at different levels...some climbing up. The monkeys on the top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces. The monkeys on the bottom look up and see nothing but a** holes.

I hope you can grin and bear the stress for a while, and even if your resume may not look the greatest right now, if I were you I'd be applying for new jobs anyways. You never know what opportunities you may come across.
