nurontin????
i have BP and currently am being treated with nurontin. It works at keeping my mood stable, anyone else heard of this drug in the treatment of BP.

Yes I took it for a while but at the time I took it it was generally used as an adjunct (additional) mood stabilizer but as its become more known it has been in use more as they have a further understanding of it. A far number of anti-convulsants (which is what Neurtontin is in its primary usage) when further researched become used off label as mood stabilizers. It has a specific side profile that is relatively tolerable. Its efficacy rate varies from person to person. You can find out more by going to the medication website or reading the P.D.R. (Physician's Desk Reference this should be at your local library) and then discussing the information with your psychiatrist.
my pdoc refused to prescribe it for me, though i believe it's very good for BP as it supplies gaba for the brain. The problem arose because the pharm comp announced its use for BP before taking the consent of the FDA this is why pdocs abstain from prescribing it. For anxiety it's the best of them all. As a mood stabilizer like IL said usually adjunct to other MS because it's a bit weaker. Keep us posted
