I'm the same way. If I happen to eat foods containing gluten...the next day my emotions are a wreck. My anxiety goes through the roof, depression, irratability, anger and my entire body aches for at least a week. I used to get the tiny blisters on my fingers but I have not had those in quite some time.
I've been tested twice for Celiac but my GI doctor keeps telling me that I do not have sprue. Then why the hell do I hurt for a week after eathing gluten? I have had 4 complete blood count tests done and each of them come back saying I am healthy. The doctors do not believe me. I get mad at myself after eating a hamburger...they tast so good...because I know that I am going to hurt and be an azz for the next week. My family does not deserve this.
Have you noticed that you also have a problem with dariy or sugar?
Glad to hear I'm not alone. I've felt like people think I'm making this up, because I do eat the stuff. I crave it sometimes. Sometimes I kid myself and "treat" myself to a "it's friday" donut, only to end up craving more bread over the weekend and by monday, I'm a bit of a mess, moody and weepy, but not achy (at least that I've noticed as being related - I never paid attention to the headaches and pains possibly coming from that). I haven't had the testing because I figured they would say the same thing to me that they did to you. And yes, those burgers are soooooo good, and taking them off the bun just doesn't provide the same satisfaction.
As for sugar, I try not to indulge there too much because I think my blood sugar goes a bit wacky and drops, I end up with the shakes. Same think with wine or other alcoholic beverages.
Dairy, aside from getting rather "airy", I'm okay with it. A couple of Beano tabs and I'm okay with it. I didn't used to have a problem with that. It just crept up on my over the years.
yes i have the mosquito reaction, and itchy rashes and it gets worse as you leave it untreated. after 5 yrs of mis diagnosis, when i eat wheat gluten products, i have the reaction with in a half a hour now, i dont eat any of that and if i accidently do liek in cross contamination or hidden in a product or someone else cooks, it just reacts, stop eating wheat gluten there are bread and pasta products out there made from potatoe and rice gluten. If you are sensitive to it or if u are a celiac then you will eventually damage your colon, this is how your body is reacting, the colon cant break it down.
Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I've had those "mosquito bites" for many years. I'mhappy to know I'm not imagining the relationship given that they occur a few days later. Did you have many at a time or just a few? Did you get the moodiness with it? Did you have any weight issues with it? Are there weight issues with celiacs or gluten sensitivity?
I'm a tad thick-headed. If someone doesn't come right out and say "You have a sensitivity to wheat, stop eating it", I'm going to cheat, regardless of how lousy it makes me feel after a few days. I do try to stay away from it, but I seem to only get a few days under my belt, enough to start feeling better, before I give in to the craving and it starts all over again.
Hello;
I have also had the itchy bumps but never had them tested for DH. I just want to say get tested (if you haven't) and stop eating that stuff if necessary. The more you eat it the more you will continue to miss it.
I tested positive for gluten antibodies. I had depression first and this blossomed into many different neurological symptoms. I think for some gluten attacks the brain. After 6 months GF I found my short-term memory returning. I wish I had never let it get so bad that now I am happy to remember what I did yesterday.
Best of luck! The GF diet is easier than living under the influence of gluten.
