confusion

I recently posted about my son's issues after wrestling camp. He saw his doctor who called the NS, and we were told to NS to see if he wanted MRI prior to appt. He does not want an MRI, which suprises me. I asked the person if they knew why dr did not want one. She said that he felt it was "activity related" and was not needed. She stated she was just telling me what the dr said. The thing is that we were told once the surgery is done, if all went well, he could return to everything he did prior to surgery. I also checked back with them, specifically about wrestling, they said he is at no greater risk than anyone in the general population for problems with this.

He went to wrestling camp on Fri night and on Sat mid day he called saying something wasn't right. He reported lower and mid back pain, headache, and bright light (he has described this as not being able to see anything for a couple seconds except for a very bright light). These were problems he had prior to surgery, which largely disappeared after surgery. He did still have some lower back pain and had PT for this.

Am I whacked here? Jumping the gun? Would anyone else think  the NS that did the surgery would WANT an MRI if some symptoms returned??? Any thoughts on this?

It's really bothering me. I plan to call the general doc tomorrow to tell him this, but I'm sure he will say to wait and see what NS says. (sigh)

Looks like we may be back on the merry go round again......

Hi SHeri,

SO sorry u r on that merry go round again, but I have no idea y the dr does not want the MRI, unless he already has an idea of what is going on.

Everyone is different as to how they will be after surgery. I am sure by 5 months ur son no longer had ozzing and bleeding from his scar...but I do.....so for drs to give generalities as to how we will be after is a **** shoot....we will only know when we get there.

Try and relax, u trusted this NS to do the surgery, so trust he has an idea what ur DS needs now....and keep ur BP down : )

If on exam the Dr sees something that isn't right he may then do another MRI....When was the last one?

Try and relax....I know it is hard to wait......when do u see the NS?

I really hope that is not the case. maybe you will just have to wait and see if things calm down.I know i would want a new MRI done too.
What kind of surgery did he have. I forgot. was it just removing some bone or did they do the whole thing you know patch and all.
If it was just bone removal maybe there is some kind of slump happening after that. I am just guessing here.
Take care of yourself and see what everyone says.
