Well it is MedHelp that is doing it...they asked all CL's to put it in the diff forums.....I know that healthy eating can help all of us especially those with GERD.....as well as added pounds!!
Well if u have ne recipe, u can deff add it to the link in the thread.... : )
I saw that you were doing that...so far I have nothing to really add! All I've done is smart eating! I eat a lot of chicken breast or turkey breast! LOTS and Lots of veggies! Said goodbye to coffee and sugers! Started this August and lost 13 lbs but still have pain....oh well! :) At least I know that if I ever had to face surgery again, I'll be healthy and that is surely important! Keep the blood lines clean, lol!
Jen...u may want to check out the Healthy Cooking forum....and add ur recipes to the forum.
Ha ha ha...yes I'm very hungry! Problem is on also working on a new diet of eating very healthy in hopes of help my head! The steroids do not help this! lol
I was tried on 3 rounds of steroids duirng the past year. I didn't get any relief, but did have to buy lots and lots of extra groceries. Whew, they made me eat us out of house and home! Good luck!
Well I have been through decompression but work in a physical job and take hits at times, get pulled and jerked around, so who knows what happened...but I wonder if something did???
But it was getting worse and I have said something is wrong! The steroids are working but now the ear pain is increasing, pressure there, so finally will just go see the ENT, as we often do!!! I think there was some swelling but something goofy going on up there!
Steroids have many uses, and can be vital in certain cases. When people have severe swelling, the cells start to kill them selves off from all the pressure. There is just not enough room when those tiny cells take up way more space then they did.
They prescribe steroids for swelling from severe allergic reactions (anaphalactic shock) because it actually reduces that swelling so well that less cells die, and therefore you can recover faster from the damage cause by the swollen cells.
Same for back injury's, herniated disks are first more swollen. As time goes by the swelling decreases, reducing the pressures on the nerves which is what causes the worst of the symptoms.
Traumatic injuries also usually get a round of steroids and it can mean the difference between losing limbs or not, if steroids are administered quickly and the damage is of course not past a certain level of severity.
So in the instance of a Chiari malformation, imagine your cerebral tonsils have been under extreme pressures. After coughing or bending over or just being upright, things are under more and more pressures. Your tissues can only handle so much before your body says there is damage occurring, and it will swell from your bodies own response to the damage. However it is not good at all to have brain cells swelling. It would cause all your symptoms to worsen. If the swelling is reduced, symptoms are reduced and so on. If a person tries steroids and they don't work, it is most likely because nothing is in a swollen state, or is always enlarged in the case of a Chiari malformation that is always present, without being extra inflamed.
So im not a professional but I think this is how the whole steroid thing works so, just my theory and perspective on the medical uses of steroids. Stacey
Hi Jen...so glad ur HA finally broke!!....and I am glad u have something that will help.
We all have to keep looking until we find what works for each of us.
"selma"
Before my surgery I took pred and it helped for awile. Headaches were not my main complaint though. We are all so different, but yet the same! :)
hey love!
ive had no luck with the steroid tapper that the doctors tried for me before. the first time was tappered over three days. the second time was a day longer and stronger i believe.
my NS even went as far as making me a "cocktail" of sorts - mixing benedryl, valium and alleve! i took it back to back on the hour (as he told me to) and it still left me staring at the ceiling.
im glad this is giving you some relief! hope it continues to work for you.
