sinus surgery planned

sinus surgery planned

Hello,
I haven't posted in a while, and I haven't been doing so well.  I had pneumonia that was caused by a bad sinus infection in my sphenoid sinuses that has not responded to a month of a top line antibiotic.  Now I have to have surgery, but the sphenoid is so close to the brain and I'm worried about the chiari.  I've been having bad headaches and all of my chiari symptoms such as the headache and left side numbness has been worse.  It must be that the swelling is sphenoid is putting pressure on the brain?  Has anyone else had surgery in this part of the sinus?  I previously had sinus surgery years ago, and my other sinuses responded to the antibiotics this time, but not the spenoid.

  Welcome back!

Sorry u have not been doing well...I know several members had pneumonia last winter too.The sphenoid is in the nasal cavity and can very well cause ear, eye and related issues...pressure on the brain, possibly depending on how much swelling u have.I am sure it may just feel that way.....and may not really be affecting ur chiari...but it could be the chiari affecting ur sinus.

I have not had ne surgery on my sinuses....and want to wish u all the best.
