Children suffering from allergies only at home

For the past month, my children (1 and 3) have been suffering from allergies at home.  I am highly frustrated *** this is the one place you want them to especiallycomfortable.  About two weeks I rehomed my dog, I changed the air filters, and had my system and duct work checked for leaks to make sure the indoor air problem wasn't coming from there.  Since we havev rehomed our dog it has helped, but my 1 year still gets a runny nose and congestion.  We can be gone allday and she will be fine but within 2 minutes of being at home, her nose is running.  We are in the process of hopefully getting rid of the carpets in the living room and replacing with laminate.  I am praying that this will help alleviate a majority of the issues.  I am trying to find source especially since it is only at home this is occuring at.  Has anyone gone thru this and can provide some helpful hints as I am at my wits end.

I went through something similar with my son. We struggled for over a year and finally broke down and went to an allergist and had him tested. It broke my heart to put him through it but that 20 min of tears was well worth it and i regret nit doing it sooner. He was allergic to things i wasn't even considering. One week later i had my baby back. He was diagnosed 3 years ago and it took a lot of adjusting and changes. But im so glad i finally did it. I highly recommend seeing an allergist. It will help take the guess work out of it which is extremely frustrating. Good luck!!!

Many people overlook mold as a key source. Even brand new homes can have mold.
I own a renovation company, and I have lost count of how many times we've stumbled upon mold.
Try having someone check around baseboards, window /door frames, tubs/toilets, and under the kitchen sink too.
Mold hides in many places...anywhere where water can settle/get in. Check your crawl space...see if there are any water stains up there. Sometimes water and condensation can accumulate/run down around the pipes and air vents.

I'm also wondering if you have many houseplants or fish tanks.
My third oldest couldn't be around either of those.
Household cleaners can also be a culprit...my kids can't be around pine sol.
Good luck.

Yes mold is often forgotten as a culprit! I am super allergic to molds from outside so if there was mold inside, I'd react as well.

And as mentioned above, you want to remove all chemicals from the house: no air fresheners, no chemical cleaners. Start buying green products. Fragrance free soaps, free and dye laundry detergents, no dryer sheets. And no perfume/cologne as well: they are terrible for someone with allergies.
